Microtech EMS

Since many don't recognize the name I wanted to pop up a fresh thread making it clear that this is an engine management system. It is in final development right now and going into two cars in the next month. Once that is completed it will be open for sale. I'm not setting a release date as I we have to get through those installations first. It will NOT be plug and play, it will require wiring, but only requires about 15 connections to be made. So it is not too terrible of a job. It is can be run as a full standalone, but we will be desigining the installation only as a standalone engine management, not a full standalone. The motor will be entirely and purely under the control of the Microtech but all other vehicle systems will be controlled by the stock ECU.

Pricing has not been set yet and until it is discussed internally in NSN Motorsports and the final installation configuration is determined by the testing in the beta cars in the coming weeks/months we will not be able to provide a solid cost. The best I can do right now is estimate a cost between 1100 and 1800. And I really mean BETWEEN those values. Complications could push it up to 1800, and incentives from the manufacturer could pull it down to 1100 but at this point I'd expect it not to be at either of those values. But I realize everyone will ask and want to know and so forth... thus the range. This will also include the software and cable and adapter, OR optionally the handset that allows you to tune the vehicle WITHOUT a laptop.

This system has been in my car and run for more than a year and I have been completely satisfied with the driveability and useability of the system. NSN Motorsports is proud to offer this system to the community once development has been completed and we are happy to answer all questions! Please try to refrain from bashing or promotion of other systems such as the MPI or the AEM. Both of those products are great systems that are great options. This is simply another option with a different feature set to appeal to a different group of tuners.

Thanks!

Also, forgot to mention... unlike previous Microtech installations... we will be making this work without a loss of the stock tach, and without an alternator swap.

Thanks!

Steve

nice man....I really think this is going to be a greattt option to fall in there between the haltech and the AEM..good work, Im excited to see what you can do with it..

The LT8S which is the new 32 bit motorola based units. Very fast and powerful and HEAVILY configurable :). We are going to start off with vanilla versions but we will add additional versions with user defineable setpoints, resolutions, inputs outputs etc... there is a LOT that can be done... but we are going to start with base models as they are fantastic pieces of equipment off the shelf.

Additionally we will be providing an option that can be added on at any time for 150 dollars that will allow you to run aftermarket coils for each individual cylinder as well.

there will be no difference to the EMS as far as FI versus NA so it will easily accomodate and work for both! :)

First units (test units) are on order.

I've been re-mapping and doing the wiring over in my car (which is also a Microtech Powered car...) and finding that the wiring job needed really isn't too bad.

Connections: 1 wire for each ignition coil, 2 for air temp sensor, 2 for water temp sensor, 3 for CAS, 3 for TPS, 2 for ignition, and 1 for the fuel relay and that's basically it. The injectors have their own full harness, and there are a few minor grounds. Pretty easy wiring job actually!

I'll have an official wiring instructions I will post after the first two installs are completed successfully. But I wanted to post this so that people realized that for this EMS the wiring is not all that murderous and I will have spell out with pictures every connection and wire color and option available for doing the wiring so that it is all that much easier for everyone.

if this works for both FI and NA -- then i could buy it , tune it for NA and later if i decide on a turbo -- just retune it ??

am i understanding that right?? thanks and have a nice day :)

Yep. You have that exactly right. It allows 4 different tuning modes as well, if you tune in TPS (throttle position) mode then you can tune very specifically for just that, otherwise switch to MAP (manifold air pressure) mode and tune that if you expect to see a larger swing in pressures (aka FI). Timing, cruise, everything could all be remapped between either.
