Yeah, grammar is poor, but maybe not native english speaker?

That said, I cry bulls***. Ask them to lift the car and show you the damage done to the specific part by your "screw" you used on the amp. Tell them your own insurance company is looking for documentation, and if none is provided, your claims representative will stop by. Give the national number of your insurance company as well, and tell them you've initiated a claims process. No insurance company would actually take you seriously, but those guys will get nervous about lying to more than just you.

I would also mention you're calling national mazda. ring the bell. talk to their boss's boss's boss in Japan. Don't pay though, and tell them while the dispute is ongoing, you intend to drive the rental for no charge. clear this comp with national mazda.

lol we're trying just hard to decipher everything you wrote. it would be like trying to help herpes spread with no one to spread it to

yeah, just ask to see the damage and go from there. it'll go good or worst from there. who installed the amp?

sounds like its time to start taking hostages... sorry i give horrible advice.. but seriously id strap some road flares to my chest ala Tommy Boy and make sure my demands were made clear!

How the **** would a 1" screw under your passenger seat cause an EVAP leak??!! **** that Mazda dealer, I would have called and demanded to talk to the service manager and GM of that dealership wayyy before all that B.S. happened.. Don't let them get away! Do what it takes, its better then paying nearly 2K. All there trying to do is fool you into paying for a mistake they probably made. (Most) Dealerships FTMFL!!

All kidding & grief aside, I think the OP is probably not a native English speaker, so I'm going to cut him a little slack on the difficult-to-read post.

However, he states that he did install the amp himself. If indeed, one of the amp screws damaged a hose that effects the EVAP system, then he may indeed be liable for the cost.

Now, should that cost be $1,700? I have a hard time buying that. If the dealership's "master mechanic" just threw new parts into the car until the problem cleared, then they should put back all of the original parts that didn't clear the problem, and the OP should not be charged parts OR labor for replacement of those parts. Just because the dealer's "master mechanic" is not competent to actually diagnose a problem doesn't mean you should pay by the hour for him to try random bulls*** until something works.

I don't see the OP getting out of this without cost, but I don't think $1,700 sounds right, either.

I'm not entirely sure I understand the post, but I'm not going to hate because thats not what this forum is for. I will say, however, that if you are not a native English speaker and the dealer is aware of this they may be trying to take advantage of you.

From what I understand the OP had two problems, something with the MAF and something with the EVAP system. The dealer fixed the MAF, but not the EVAP. They are claiming that a screw damaged an EVAP hose and that is what is throwing the EVAP light. But, they are trying to void his entire warranty and make him pay for the MAF fix. I'm not so good with these systems so my question is, how are the MAF and EVAP systems related? Is there any way that the hole in the EVAP hose caused the MAF failure? If not then they should not be charging you because they didn't fix the EVAP issue. At most they could charge you for the time they spent looking for the EVAP problem. Since the hoses are the first place any idiot would look I couldn't see them charging more than and hour or two of labor and no parts because they didn't replace the hose.

Also, like someone else said, I would definately ask to see the damage on the car. If you do not speak English well and think the dealership is trying to screw you then find some way to subtly bring it up. Something like, "I was talking to my boss at work and he told me that this doesn't really seem right." At least something that will show them that even if you are ignorant as to how these things work, you are seeking advice from people who are not. Just make it clear that you are not going away and you will fight them on everything. The rental car also comes to mind because they kept putting you off. If they had been working on your car instead of going on vacation they could have come to this conclusion a lot sooner and you would not have had the rental for so long.

Keep in mind that you want to work with these people and a long drawn out conflict is not the best thing for anyone. I would offer to pay for an hour or two of diagnostics because it seems likely that the EVAP problem was your fault. Just make sure that whenever you do deal with them to remain cool, calm, and collected. You want to give the impression that you are intelligent, dedicated, and strong willed, not that you are crazy.

I wish you luck.

I don't get it. Why the hostility? You installed an amp with no concern to what was on the other side, and punctured some evap line. The dealer saw it, and since it's not a manufacturing or design defect from the factory, the warranty does not cover it. It's written clearly in the warranty guide.

There is no reason they should fix your mistake. Sorry bud. Also, please take everyone's advice and use paragraphs, proper spelling (not SMS text speak), and grammar.

I haven't spent any time underneath a MS3 yet except for one oil change, but I'm sure there are at least one or two lines running from the tank to engine dealing with evaporation emission controls. Puncture one of these lines and you get the same affect of not installing your gas cap.

If your MAP sensor issue was something completely different, they should cover that. Keep in mind all the work that they did to find your issue. You took your car in there to find it, so you gotta pay.
