not talking about lying or anything.. but did you upgrade the head w/ different cams, take out the rev limiter or something??

The sacrifice I make with my Nova is that it doesn't handle very well off of the drag strip. Oh well though. It looks like you are putting together a very complete package. Makes the Mazda folks proud when they see build threads like this.

Thanks again sir, i'm really trying my best and putting all i can and can afford to make this new build of mine a little different and to go a little further. I hate when people talk bad about this cars, they do have potential more than what people thinks, is just a matter of putting the right parts and get the right person to do it right from the first time. Without the help of my friends in here and the mazda comminity i wasn't able to achieve what i have and what i hopefully will.

The Head is a fully custom build stage 3 head with basically everything available done to it, custom cams, bigger valves, port and polish, 5 angle valve job etc... my rev limiter is set to 7.7k rpm if not mistaken, and if i raise it up to 8k i could of gone faster probably like 185 where i think and have no doubt our gear ratio is maxed completely out.

this has been discussed at length. at the redline he claims to have run, it is physically possible. at his power level, wouldn't doubt it. he's running standalone EMS, so the stock speed limiter (which it has been argued both ways as to whether or not it exists) is irrelivant.

After being at my mechanic's shop we have decided we need better cams. we were thinking about getting Integral Stage 2.5 Cams, what do you guys think about these bad boys ? are they good ? anybody tried them before, according to their website these are just dropped in with no modification to valvetrain or shims what do you guys think. i need serious inputs in here before i buy them..Thanks in advance..

no modification to shims? i call BS. maybe they have the same base circle as stock... but that doesn't mean you're not going to have to adjust lash...
seems pretty late in the build to be changing cams, why the change of heart?

Because TBK Just ******* lie to be saying i had custom turbo cams when those fuckers charged for them when they are Regular FSD7 Cams, they did everything else to the head but not the cams, so If i want to make more power than car already did i need more aggressive cams since 230 degrees lift is garbage.. i can't decide what i need, i don't know if stage 2 are good with good idle power band and driveabilty or stage 2.5

I'm starting to think what i have and will have is more than enough. my idle was perfect and car pull like no other beast around. so i just might stick with them and just do the remaining mods, 505z00m im and retune the car and up the boost and that's ******* it.

man.. i cant wait to see your numbers when this is done!!

Thanks man me too. but this Spending thing have to damn stop. you never finish and i'm about to say enough, if theres better this of what i have i'll have to say **** it. i don't really know if the integral cams will make any better of what i have, i want to have a fast car but not a damn Racing car that cannot be driven normal in the streets. i'm stating to really think me and this build is getting out of control

And you didn't think it was out of control when you were putting down almost 400 tq on the FS block at 25 psi? Damn, you and I have different views haha.

twiggys are a great cam.... better than the integrals, but for your build they may not be enough. idk.

but the thing is that the ones i'm currently running sux ass bro. fuckers TBK the more i think of them the more i hate them...

I want something that i can drive on the streets with no problems.. AC on, Music blasting etc. no funky idle or bouncing engine you get me. i might just keep the ones i have just add what you already know and just retune the car and up the damn boost and just start having fun with it and forgetting what hp i have i'm not competing with anybody here or there this is a matter of being happy with what you have not how far can you go.

if thats your goal, I say twiggys if you can get your hands on a set. solid gains, and doesn't sacrifice drivability. the integrals I'd imagine would be a little too lumpy to have a clean idle.

That's the thing i don't know what is my goal. i don't know if i really need bigger cams or not.. believe it or not my car feels, drive just like any Stock MSP, i swear daily drive able ass hell, clutch feel awesome, just when you step on it you know you have some deadly weapon between your hands. i don't want to not be able to chill and drive it on traffic or normal on the streets.

To achieve what you initially set out to achieve I think that you will have to make some sacrifice in driveability. That kind of power comes at a price. On my Nova I had a similar experience. It's an 8-second car that I intended to drive on the street sometimes. I decided late in the build to just go for it and threw daily driveability out the window by getting a really aggressive cam.

It did affect how the car drives. I no longer made enough vacuum to use the power brakes or use an automatic transmission. So I added a vacuum booster and canister. I also raised the idle to 1600 revs (it was 1250). In the end, I am very happy with my decision. I would have felt that I was compromising the goal I set out to achieve if I had not gone with the aggressive cam. To make the big power, you're going to make some sacrifices. It's worth it though.

I know you can't have both worlds.. But if i have to choose i rather to make better what i have a little, you know better this better that, than going insane and not be able to drive around town and have fun with your car. I think what i have can get a little better, atleast make it more fine to work better. I really don't like a car i can only drive it on a track. this car was not ment to be a drag racing car, i just wanted to have a little more punch to have fun with it around since these cars stock are incredible slow.

I think even if you went with really aggressive cams that you would still be street driveable. It just wouldn't feel like a stock MSP anymore.
