hi every one. im kind of new here so be easy on me. but anyways i have a protege5 and i just purchase a stock mazdaspeed exhaust from a friend. and its the oval tip exhaust. and i wanted to go install it and i know you need to modded the exhaust a bit . but i went to master muffler to see if they can do it and the guy was gonna do it but he said the exhaust was gonna seat to low. like will it seat to low or can anyone help me out any one got any pics of this beeing done.?? cause now im kind of scared to pay to get it done and then it wont look good. but anyways if any one can help me i will appretiated

it might hang a little low but you can get kartboy exhaust hangers which are a lot less "giving" then the stock hanger so that might help..
 
I got the same exhaust (oval tip) on mine. I bought it used off of another P5 owner, so the modification was already done. Basically they need to shorten the tip 4 to 5 inches. As far as seating low? Mine sits just fine...check my sig. I am at work and it is the only pic I have to offer right now. I can get some up later today of different shots.

I am using my stock hangers and have no issues at all. The person I bought it from ADVISED not to use Kartboy hangers as they would hold the tip too close to the bumper resulting in some melting.

I would also suggest getting a new gasket (got mine from the local dealer...$12 and change).

yeah, i've got the same. also, check the sig. I've got the round tip (got hooked up ;)), but it's pretty similar...and it sits fine. If they do it right, it'll sit right. There's no reason for it to sit low.
