Hey! Your Gf made a good choice 
About the mods, their is a wide selection of diffrent mods depending on what you wanna do. Of course their are tons of CAI, SRI, exhausts, hoods, FMIC, and now corksport released the "Unichip" piggyback unit that is supposed to be VERY good. (saving up for one) You can get a brand new MSP (if their are any left) for about 16,500 from the dealer. Atleast thats what i've read otrher people getting for em. I love the car, very fun to drive, very good looking and stylish. There are a few minor problems that people have been having with the car, you can read up on them on the MSP problems and Fixes thread on the top of the MAZDASPEED section. All the problems where covered under warranty anyway. Anyways i love the car and i am definatly glad i bought one. Good luck to your G/F maybe we'll see her posting around here soon. Peace

Tight knit community
Its a good combo of speed and looks stock. One of the better stock interiors in our price class.
MSP handling is unbelievably badass
To be brutally honest if she wants speed over anything in our price class the Neon SRT4 is faster but is ugly as sin through and through. Interior and exterior look hideous. Handling is a bit shady, but it is faster.
As with most limited production cars, owners either love it or hate it.

you CAN buy his.. it's a little more work, though.
