Mazdaspeed in SCC

well, they did it, they mentioned a protege in SCC.

Was it in response to all the letters and emails I have sent them about turboing their mp3 project car? Was it about the mp3 project car? Was it about a mazdaspeed version of the p5? was it mentioning this website in their website section?

haha

no no no no, of course not.

They printed a letter of some goon (i REALLY dont think anyone on this board would do this) asking SCC what we would have to do to a MSP to make it as fast as a srt-4.

Maybe they'll print my e-mail im sending them in response to their latest slap in the protege face:

"How much would you have to do to a Mazdaspeed Protege to make it as ugly as a SRT-4?"

by the way i emailed SCC about their project mp3 and why they haven't mentioned anything about it forever, and how there was a bunch of after market support for and blah blah blah. well scott oldham emailed me back and and said that project mp3 is no more, mazda came and took the car back. mazda is so stupid they just don't get how to gain free publicity and atttention for their products.

i was just at the store and i read the letter the guy sent. basically it said that the SRT4 shouldnt have been in the comparison because it was a prototype and that if mazda had sent a 200hp MSP prototype it would have won or something. i thought his letter was stupid, because both the srt4 and the msp were prototypes anyways.

a direct quote:

"MOREMAZDASPEEDME
Just how much would it take to make the Mazdaspeed Protege faster than the SRT-4 Neon? Also, what about the full story tranny as a weak point? I am planning to buy the Mazda to autocross and use as a daily driver.

from the internet

As more tuners and enthusiasts start turning up the wick on this neat little machine we'll better know what exactly it takes, how happy the car is until it goes 'poof', and what exactly will go 'poof'. We'll let you know when we do."

neat little machine

Making it sound like a toy...:wtf:

Every month when my issue of SCC arrives I hope like a child on xmas morning that this site will be featured in their website section. I've e-mailed them about it and I'm sure others have to... but still no luck. One day this site will grace the pages of SCC! :D

Yes, free publicity would be good, but be careful what you wish for. When you get your web address printed in a mag and the mag says it's a good source of info, you will get a ton of traffic...and that is not necessarily a good thing. In any magazine, especially import tuner mags, there are more ignorant/stupid people than there are knowledgable who read it...though SCC seems to be one of the more classy ones, it still brings the same crowd. I've seen it happen to a few Honda sites (though I know how many more Honda/Acura people there are out there than Mazda)...and it seems to really detract from the appeal of the site...too many people asking the same questions without using a very valuable search function aggrivates many and knowlegable people might lose interest in the site.

I will agree though, it is cool to see the website that you frequent listed in a mag.

Something to remember: Back when they originally reviewed the car (last Oct issue, look at the Mazda dealer for a copy of the article) they made one statement that should put it in perspective:

" Because of the Mazda's massive grip, mild manners and performance potential from its turbocharged engine, this car is our new banchmark for production car front-drive performance. That's right, it has knocked the old Acura Integra Type R off the mountain."

I am word for word here, straight from the fourth page of the article.

They may SAY "neat little machine" in their smartass letter responses, but I'm sure they MEAN something entirely different :D

They NEVER said they did! I would expect their review to have been clear. Who knows.... I think I'll keep MY illusions and say that they will be using the MSP as their benchmark.
