Mazdaspeed Exhaust

This exhaust (axle-back) is currently my first choice to replace the stock configuration when the time comes. However, I'm curious about what it actually looks like.

When at my local Mazda dealership they showed me the "Mazdaspeed exhaust" that they ready to sell me for $258.00 + tax. However it looked absolutely nothing like the tip on the MazdaSpeed.

On Corksport's site they list the "Mazdaspeed" exhaust at near $600.

So what's the scoop here... every photo of the $200 "Mazdaspeed" exhaust I see looks absolutely nothing like the one on the MSP and that's what I want.

(PS. I know people are selling there exhausts off their MSPs but I'd much prefer to buy new)

take the cat back section off
a little loud
loss of low end torque
re accel after shifts is instant
high rev spool is quicker
sound is intimidating

You wanna see what it looks like? check out my thred in the For Sale seciton, i was sellin it and so i posted pics of it. GO check it out, its already sold but there are good pics there.

Zacky,

I'm fully aware of what it looks like, a friend drives an MSP. If you'll notice my original post I am asking about buying one and why it seems so difficult to do just that. All the ones I've seen for sale via Mazda dealerships look nothing like the MSP exhaust and I'm wondering where I can go to get one that looks IDENTICAL to it.

I don't think mazda dealerships are actually selling any mazdaspeed parts as of yet. The exhaust you are being shown is the mazdaspeed kit for the P5. I believe if you got the exhaust for the speed, it would stick out from under your bumper because the sedan body is longer than the wagon(hatchback)

My guess, as far as Corksport, is that the exhaust is in fact the Mazdaspeed Group A exhaust, as offered in the Familia Sport20 over in Japan. Something I'd like to get my hands on, but it's not practical for an axle back exhaust. I'm just going to buy the Racing Beat cat back, myself.

thanks so much eddie (and others).

I had a feeling that this would be the end result and I'd be forced to buy the axle-back used off a MSP. Perhaps than I'll pursue a custom made configuration.

Remember too that the axle back section from a sedan won't fit a P5 properly. It's too long and you will have to chop the pipe to make it fit.
