Well we got comfiration that the MS3 will def. be out next fall/winter. which means that the MS6 will be slashed and will only be available this year. Word is that it should priced $4k less than the WRX.

alright im willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but for that we need more "corporate info".
This doesnt mean that all your answers will be taken seriously but we would like to know more stuff about it reagrdless.
numbers, how much HP? sedan/hatch? fall/winter next year is a long ways out. i was hoping summer next year.

seriously, if I knew that the MS3 wouldn't be coming out with AWD, I'd probably just break down and get either the MS6 or a WRX. if it is gonna be awd though... I'll wait a year. maybe by then I can actually break even on my damn car!

i hear you on that. AWD is the only way. i wanted it to be here soon cause right now i can sell my 3 and actually make money on it.
if its not AWD i'll prob keep my 3 and boost it.

i wish this could come true and for it to come out in one year from today, if not a year and a 1/2. but yeah this is just hoping, we need more info though ill try and harras my dealer on tuesday when i go for some work...

if they did both then yeah i would agree with you but i doubt they would do both. if they did it in sedan then well id test it out i could be convinced for the rest of the stuff. and if not ill just get a mazda3 5 door and hiboost that b**** up! but mainly ill wait to see what they do with the ms3

if they can do AWD and less than 3100lbs (and preferably less than 3000), i'd be on board. but looking at the MS6 and its 3600lb pork, i'd rather just have an LSD. just not high on a 3200-3300lb Mazda3.

Seems kind of odd that they would kill the MS6 after all the money they've put into developing and promoting it. I think if the MS3 does come out next year, the MS6 will live on.

Not really. MS6 serves as a test mule for the turbo 2.3L engine without Mazda having to commit to a car that will immediately be compared to the well-established STi and the Evo. This way they get to refine the engine in a car that is not in the same class first. s***, if you can get the crazy acceleration that is possible in the MS6 in a big heavy sedan, imagine what kind of performance you can expect with that same engine is a compact sedan.

Now that they know the engine rocks, they can develop the suspension and handling components for the MS3 so that they don't end up with something like the SRT-4...hella fast in a straight line, but don't ask it to turn. If you are going to go against industry gold standards such as the STi and the Evo, you need to have your s*** together.

The demand for the MS6 is likely not great enough that they could justify bringing both the MS6 and the MS3 here at the same time. There would likely be cross-shopping between the 2 cars. Hell, if I only had to pick one and I knew that the smaller of the two would be the better performer, I would buy that one. Personally, I think that the MS3 will be a f___in' monster. How could it not be? The MS6 already has 274 hp and 280 ft/lbs tq....in a 3600 lb car! Transplant that into a 3 and look out pappy! If they de-tune it at all, you just have to pick up an MS6 ecu and off you go.

If they're truly porting the 2.3L turbo from the 6 (and the drivetrain) like you say, then you're right, the MS3 will be well worth the wait. Trouble is, no one seems to know for sure what the deal is...

the 2.3 turbo, I'm there...
what I wouldnt be holding out for - is AWD, that's whats still up in the air... 2006 release lol. early 2007 maybe... but I understand, some times dealers get the worst info, because it's not concrete, but on the surface it appears good enough..

Hehe, I've been trying to keep out of this one since everyone's looking for official links/info - and if anyone wants the official info then it'll be a few more months. Until then, here's some info on the Mazdaspeed3:

- 5-door
- FWD
- 25x hp (figure not N. American-spec, but gives you the general area)
- Job 1 production mid-2006 (that's the aim as of now)

And the question everyone's asking, so when's the debut? I've gotten incorrect info on autoshow debuts before on this car, but looks like the Geneva autoshow in early March, along with the refreshened Mazda3, which will be available in Japan around May 2006 (and around the typical '07 vehicle release timeframe for N. America).

But don't ask for links or other official statement, cause they're not out.
