Mazdaformance Protege Turbo Finally Dyno'd

You've been a GREAT amount of help so far, but would you happen to have the part numbers for the diff bearings, the oil seals, and the shim?

na i'm just going to use a simulator like the domestic guys use. one O2 sensor on the primart for ECU fuel control and then the simulator on the secondary to satisfy the emmisions section of the ECU

The funny thing is that I didn't get any new CEL's from removing my 1st CAT, just the same 0421 that I've gotten since I installed the kit.

Chojin - Good stuff, man. I'd like to see some mp3s with an LSD...

My LSD will be comming in this week. and i will be having it installed as soon as it gets in.

Chojin,

I'm currently looking into types of Fuel control for the Mazdaspeed ECU. From what I've gathered the PSC you are using does not allow any changes to the map under WOT above 4500rpm?

I was looking into the ARC2, but if this won't work as well I'll just have to go standalone. Any insight would be great, thanks.

Sorry, no updates on the production version yet. We haven't had time to really focus on revising the prototype. We'll keep everyone informed, trust me.

The Mazda ECU will not go into Open Loop mode until 4500 rpms. With the PSC, you can only modify the Open Loop fuel curve. Therefore, the PSC will work after 4500 rpms, but not before then.

Everyone -

We may have found a fix for the Open/Closed Loop dilemma. We have added another electronic device that will put the Mazda ECU into Open Loop mode as soon as boost is detected. We can now fully tune the Open Loop fuel curve from the moment boost begins until redline. The FMU and the Mazda ECU are no longer fighting each other below 4500 rpms. We're still in the testing phase of this product and will keep everyone informed when we have concluded testing.

Cheers,

oooh, hurry up. we need more turbo options. warm weather is comming and we want to be tubo'd

chojin im curios about your set upon the protege
how are you controlling the 370's?
maf modifier working well?
thanks in advance:)

For tuning during vacuum situations, we used a Mazda NGS (scan tool) to monitor the factory ECU's fuel trim level and then used the Split Second PSC to lean out the injectors accordingly so the ECU is not pulling any fuel on its own.

For tuning during boosted situations, a Vortec 6:1 FMU supplies the fuel to the injectors and the Split Second PSC is used to fine tune the fuel curve.

The Split Second PSC utilizes a built in 2 Bar MAP sensor and the R4 tuning software allows us to tune a 3D fuel map by modifying the MAF voltage for a specific RPM and Manifold Pressure.

Hope this helps.

Chojin,

I see the layout of your hard piping looks to be the same as what would come off the t-25 in the MSP. If this is true, do you have, or will you have, an FMIC kit that could be bought for the MSP or any other boosted pro ?

hehehe, I got an LSD from a 323 gtx found in the junkyard in Maryland. It had the 1.8 bp turbo motor. The Transaxle is also a g series. I used the LSD no Problems fit perfect. I also have the parts to make my wagon AWD. I just need to get the axle for the back along with the drive shaft.

2 questions.

IS there any Piston shop that would make piston to drop our compression to 8 or 8.5 to1. Like to run 20+psi.

Also the miata I have found titiamn rods and valves. I know it is a bp motor 1.8L. Since you work at a dealership. How close in size are the rods and valves between the 2.0FS and 1.8BP. If you have the numbers attach I may be able to get them fabricated. Might cost some money. We will see.

i believe JE makes 8.5:1 pistons. i know they are out there. ask linuxracer about them. he may have gone lower comp.

how much did that LSD run you? pretty much fit w/o too much if any mods?

Can someone please confirm the axel spline counts that go into the diff on the MSP LSD. Are they the same on both sides of the diff? Or are they 26 splines on the LHS and 28 splines for the intermediate shaft on the right?

There seems to be some confusion about whether it's the diff input and the hub input that is the only variation.

hope someone can help.

the hubs are the only variation in spline count and size. you can plug a MSP LSD into a regular 3rd get with ease
