Just filled up my 2012 for the first time last night.
Sport, automatic: 80% highway driving, 20% urban driving, 298.2 miles, 10.774 gallons = 27.677 mpg.
Did you have an older 5 before? If so, which one and how did the mileage compare?
I did not; I had a Tahoe. The fuel economy on the 5 is significantly better. (2thumbs)
gas is $4.15 per gallon over here. i started driving Prius style this week and got 387 miles out of a 13.88 gallon fill-up, which to me is decent. still, it cost me $58. i drive 2000+/mo so the rising gas price impacts my budget. i love my 5 and road trips. what can i do to improve fuel economy besides perhaps losing 5 pounds? (boom01)
259.4 miles, 9.553 gallons, 70% highway/30% urban = 27.1 mpg
Also, my 2012 Sport AT spins ~2350 rpm at 70 mph.
I noticed when I test drove a 2012 that the RPM's on the freeway were a little less than my 08. This must be how they were able to get an mpg or two more out of them on the EPA cycle.
I also have been driving in "granny" mode all week. I commute 31 miles (one way). I can't remember the last time I drove at the speed limit for so long! So far after filling up on Monday, and driving all week, plus side trips, I'm at 350+ miles with a quarter tank left to go. I won't push too much past when the light comes on. I'll update my mileage and report..
Lol. No. I normally drive at about 70 or 75mph on the hiways...Now I put the cruise on 65 mph, get in the right lane and watch the madness...
Have you ever visited the ecomodder website? They have many suggestions on improving mileage...including driving style (by far the greatest impact on mileage), modifications to your car, and other things.
