Mazda3 or MS3

if you have to ask that question, i would guess you were raised without a daddy!

I know those are great starter mods but I have a very very short fuse so dealer B.S is a big no no. A warranty refusal could lead to violence especially if the mods didn't cause the problem. I get my temper from my dad I would probly be better if that was a true, there is no room for the weak in my family.

IF any mods WON'T cause warranty issues, the mazdaspeed ones would be those mods. SO if you want to mod your car and keep your warranty, stick with mazda-approved parts or bring your car back to stock every time you go to the dealership. Any time you mod your car you're asking for warranty trouble though.

Well I did a little P.I. work and came to a conclusion. With you guys opinions, and with the research that i have done I will get the MS3 and use all of the mazdaspeed goodies on it. I guess I'll start odering parts since they may not be on the market when I am ready to mod. All I am waiting on now is my settlement from the wreck, should be about 30-45 days. Thanks to everyone for the input. Lets just hope nobody hits this one.

Sounds like you made the right decision for what you are looking for (2thumbs)

if you want a nice fast car with no work the speed, but a 2.3 lt mazda 3 will have more options down the road, and can easily be way faster than a speed3 with some work, yes the suspension is stiffer but you would want to upgrade it weather speed 3 or not, the only real benefit of the speed is the lsd.

Where is this reworked MZ3 that is way faster than my speed3? I have owned both and can tell you that is not going to happen!

Actually I was flipping through a magazine the other day and there is a 3 that's quite a bit faster than a speed3, but they easily spent the price of the speed3 on the mods and labor!! Hell, you can get a speed3 into ridiculousspeed3 for, I'd say 3 grand

No brainer! The speed 3 is the best car I have ever owned. Find a slightly used one for the price of a reg 3.

That is my point, dollar for dollar the Speed3 will still kill it. You can put 10k into the mz3 motor and I will put 3k into my speed3 motor and still beat you. Doesnt make sense. To each his own!~

That is questionable. If you was to put 10k into a Mz3 motor chances are the motor will be better and stronger then the speed3 motor. Not only you can purchase a decent turbo kit you can also get forge pistons and rods and various other upgrades to help you out. That alone will benefit the motor which will give you an advantage over the speed3 motor. If you put the same 10 grand into the speed3 motor you can do the samething. So pretty much it can go both ways. Honestly you can have both cars at the same level if u have the time and money for it. I'll admit the speed3 has the best package right out of the box and you have alot of things still covered under the warranty but if the warranty isn't an issue then you can get a mz3 modify it better then the speed3. Both cars have ALOT of potential. I'm just waiting until I see some speed3s put up 400whp+ numbers. So far I've only seen modified boosted3 put up numbers like that.

Warranty is an issue to me so thats why I'm going with the speed. As far as 10k in the motor that won't happen just yet. I will get the ms stuff since it's covered under warranty and build up my sq system. I have to have the car ready by spring break natationals. So I'm more worried about the system, thats where the first 10k is going. Besides all I need is about 275whp.

they arent the same engines...

i dont think the non turbo 3 engines are direct injection.

They absolutely aren't the same. The DISI on the speed3s has direct injection
and, the internals are already built for turbo I.E. lower compression ratio and prolly heavier duty. There are many turbo kits available for the 3 how ever for the price of them, it'll end up more expensive than a speed without LSD and,
6 gears

No mods ever void a warranty, unless the part or parts installed have direct influence on the broken part. i.e. aftermarket turbo installed, boom, throws a rod because you don't know what the hell you're doing and, over boosting. That would NOT be covered.

Actually, they all do. Unless it is a certified Mazda part it will void the warranty onto what it is attached to and the chain of attachment behind it. So that's kind of a stupid thing to say since yes, most aftermarket performance mods do void your warranty unless they are certified Mazda or Mazdaspeed parts/accessories.

I am so glad that I have to wait, because the dealer is willing to sell me the car at or a little under invoice. I might can get it down more based on the 3 tsb the car has had. The 1st offer is also in this friday with the settlement from my accident. Wish me luck. Can't wait to ZOOM ZOOM again.
