Mazda start electric plug needed? 2012 CX-9

I have a 2012 mazda cx9 and I am replacing the starter on it and noticed the part I bought doesn't have an electrical female connection with the part currently in the car does, do I need to get a new part with the plug on it? I have a V identified engine.

Is the connection needed? Is it for remote start? I can't find the documentation on what it is for

If that connector is actually used then you need to get a matching unit. If you can, bring the old starter with you to the store and ensure that the part you get is an exact match. If you don't you could be going to a lot of trouble to find out that the vehicle won't start.
