For those of you that know, how big is the inlet pipe? Mazda should change mine because of the same problem. Just wondering in the event that I go with a 3" center pipe. Also, how's the difference in sound? Better or annoying?

man! were you off-roading or something???
ofcourse man!
MSP's make great off-road vehicles.
dont tell me u've never gone!!
IT'S FUN!

I have lol wasn't fun tho... damaged 2 of my wheels fairly badly, damaged some body parts (fairly minor but estimate is 1500 cdn to fix. damn limited edition!) and some wrecked suspension parts... (upbum)

has anyone had any problems with the dealership replacing their muffler? do you just say, 'my muffler is crackin, can i have another one??

mine seems fine. Thank god, I'd rather not have the mazdaspeed one. I like mine better, and I don't want anything that's louder.

Yep... But here in Quebec at least, it seems it's the one they are using.
That's the muffler I'll get tuesday, to replace my 2003.5 muffler.
Had one on my P5 and liked it

Hey Guys. Mazda changed my muffler and it exactly like the one posted by speed esq. I really like it , less weight and better sounding all the way. I definatly suggest you guys change for this one. The canister is about 4 inches smaller therefore I think it flows a little better than the the old one with the oval tip. The only difference this is a mazdaspeed unit and it's made by some company and not racing beat. I did prefer the oval tip a little better thgough, sits nicer in the bumper.

Oh yes ? Well I'm still unsure about it. I'll wait until I see it in real to make my mind.

The Mazdaspeed muffler definitely looks nice. I got one for my MP3 a while back, and it definitely sounds good. But be aware that it will be louder than your Racing Beat for sure. Quite a bit louder to a point it kind of drones at 3000+ rpm, so riding on highway won't be as quiet. My brother has a MSP too, so I can tell for sure its quite a bit louder. Need some getting used to if you like quiet ride. Build quality is great. Very solid, very shiny with no rust or ugly spots even after a year usage without much care other than spraying it with hose during car washes.

Hmmm i'm from minnesota, and my dealer ordered it for me under warranty... its taking FOREVER..... how long did any of you guys have to wait?

Don't forget to top off that muffler fluid also!

But seriously, Mazda Ordered me a muffler and the said it will be a 2003 Racing Beat and not a MazdaSpeed... WTF?!
