Mazda Recalls 2009 B-Series Truck

WASHINGTON Mazda is recalling 220 of its 2009 B-Series trucks equipped with two-wheel drive because the front spindle stem may crack due to an improper manufacturing process of the spindle.

"If a fracture of the spindle stem occurs, the wheel may separate from the axle, which may result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash without warning," said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in its recall summary of the problem.

The recall is expected to begin on February 9. Dealers will inspect the front spindle and replace it, if necessary. Owners can contact Mazda at (800) 222-5500.

i realize that. but how does it compete with any of the other light trucks on the market? It doesnt look good, it has very late 90s styling. I dont see any new ones on the road.

so why does mazda put them out? Badge engineering still costs money. Just look at chrysler.

No, Mazda would be Chrysler if they had 5 badges of the same truck with 5 models each.

Mazda only has 1 truck and it must be low cost since its a rebadged Ranger. And the Ranger does well in the compact truck segment.

Also, is that a typo or did they only recall 220 trucks? That seems low, but the BSeries sales numbers must be low as well.

Mazda has two trucks.

i didnt say mazda was chrysler... I said badge engineering costs money. Just look at chrysler. All they do is rebadge cars across their 3 company lineup, and that costs money.

Is the money mazda spends on rebadging a ford ranger, worth what they are making back in sales?

No they don't I thought I heard they were finally going to kill the B and the Tribute. Which if you think about it Ford no longer owns enough on Mazda to make them sell their cars. But Ford is taking the CX-9 to Lincoln.

Chryslers and Dodges are more than a rebadge. Most are completely different bodies on the same chassis. Besides the Aspen/Durango and Sebring/Avenger.

the factory in thailand it's Co-owned with Ford ,and into ASEAN and Australian Markets have a truck it's quite important for commercial purpose.

I 100% agree that the Bt-50 (eu name) have nothing to do with the rest of the production line-up.

But in japan (see site) they have a lot of rebadged veichles, mainly for improve the domestic sales and help to keep the Dealers Network in healty

Thanks, it was a metaphor so not to be taken literally.
How do you know for sure it's not an effective cost of money? Why not rebadge a truck that is readily available and that sells well. I'm not arguing that is isn't a waste of money, I don't know for sure either. Just because Chrylser does it and Chrysler's in big trouble doesn't mean it's a bad idea. Chrysler has a whole bunch of other problems along with their poor sales figures that are affecting the company.
I'm willing to bet that selling a truck with low sales figures isn't too bad for Mazda since they didn't have to engineer the truck from scratch. They definitely must have benefitted from Ford's budget in exchange for selling their truck.

Anyways, Ford's Ranger is rumoured to die soon and likely the B Series with it.
