2008 Mazdaspeed3 - Cosmic Blue
Hi everyone, new Mazda owner - picked up my MS3 cosmic blue last friday. I have what is probally a common question, but I can't for the life of me find the answer anywhere!

I want to get a cheap set of rims for snow tires for the winter - I'd like to get 16" rims as Nokkia makes snow tires in the right size. Will 16" rims fit over the MS3 brakes?

Also, since I'm looking for beater rims, what stock mazda's came with 16" rims that will work on the MS3? Are there models that also came with the TPMS? I would really help in narrowing down my searches for used rims.

Thanks!

i don't know about the 16" fitting over the ms3 brakes but why don't you just get some steelies and save some money if you want cheap rims. If they're gonna get dirty anyways why get rims for snow to begin with. Plus the black looks cool.

well, my thought was that used stock used mazda rims would be cheaper then new steel rims, esp if I could find some with the TPMS already installed.....

check the for sale thread on this forums and the other ************ u can buy some oem 17" rims for pretty cheap and they will clear the brakes

Go to the tirerack.com, winter tire and wheel combo / set section. You can get 17" aluminum rims and blizzaks or graspics, mounted balanced and shipped to your door for cheap

I always buy from the tirerack (walt or reggie) and they are always cheaper than local places. Plus they actually "know" tires.

I'll be doing the same for my cosmic blue MS3 this year.

17's are all that fit over the fronts and good luck finding steels in that size anyway. The offset is original so they dont make many. usually though you can get cheap rims from a local place as long as you buy tires from them. Your best bet is spend the money on the rims you REALLY want and put the stock tires on those and then just buy winter tires for your stock rims.

i have a set of stock 17" Mazda6 wheels with Michelin Pilot Arctic Alpins in a 205/50/17 that are in great shape. only used a few seasons. would sell you the set for $500. just let me know. thanks. ;)

I have read on this forum and heard from the dealer about people putting 16" on a ms3 with no problems clearing the brakes. The best experience I've had with snow tires are Dunlop winter sport 3D's
