2017~2025: Mazda Fuel Pump settlement

The first thing to note is that this is a proposed settlement. It won't provide any benefits until it's finalized by the court. That could take quite a while.

You don't need a card. Everything you need to know is at www.MazdaFuelPumpsSettlement.com. There you can plug in your VIN. It will tell you if you are a Recalled Car, an Additional Car, or neither.

An Additional Car is one that is within the range of affected cars, but which has not been recalled.

From the website:

"You may have your Additional Vehicles inspected and, if necessary, repaired by an authorized Mazda Dealer at no cost to you.

The “Additional Vehicles” are certain Mazda vehicles, equipped with a Denso low-pressure fuel pump but were not included in Mazda’s Recall.

The Additional Vehicles include certain 2017-2019 MX-5, 2017-2019 CX-9, 2018-2021 Mazda3, 2017-2019 Mazda6, 2018-2019 CX-3, 2017-2019 CX-5, 2018-2020 Mazda2, and 2020 CX-30."

There are other benefits, including a needed tow, reimbursement if you paid to have the pump fixed, extended warranties, etc.

Thanks for the clarification on "Additional Vehicles". That's what it said when I plugged in my VIN but could not find an explanation.

The Additional Vehicles include certain 2017-2019 MX-5, 2017-2019 CX-9, 2018-2021 Mazda3, 2017-2019 Mazda6, 2018-2019 CX-3, 2017-2019 CX-5, 2018-2020 Mazda2, and 2020 CX-30."
So it looks like the problem started on 2017 CX-5, the first model year for gen-2. All gen-1 CX-5’s are fine.

In reading the postcard, IF this goes thru to settlement the fuel pump will be covered for 15 years (!) and all owners are included unless they’ve specifically excluded themselves from this settlement.
I’ll just put the card into my file. If I have fuel pump problems down the road then I’ll look into it.
