Mazda CX5 2013 FWD Full Option
Hi,

I have always felt that the backrest of the driver seat slip back a bit everyday morning i had to adjust it back to my required position.

Today morning it was lying totally flat , virtually resting on the rear seats.

Had the 1000 Km service done today, the dealer insisted to leave the vehicle overnight to troubleshoot the driver seat issue ?

Any suggestions ?

Seems there is already a thread running with this issue -

Would request the admin to remove this post of mine as i will re post the same in the old thread.

If you do a search, you will find other threads on this issue...in fact, I just started a thread on this same issue a few days ago, and was admonished to search first.

This has been experienced by others, and while there is no definitive answer, most response draw me to conclude this is a design issue, that the combination of high ground clearance and the thigh bolsters conspire together to cause the driver to step out with the left leg (assuming a left hand drive car) onto the ground...a pretty long reach for many. This causes you to sit on the side bolster as you get out, and crushing the side bolster seems to be just enough to activate the seat adjustment controls. Or that is what I get out of reading responses to my question as well as by doing a search.

Please do let us know what the dealer finds:

@chas,

Thank you for your response, will post any future updates onto your thread so that we can muster all responses into one useful thread.

I don't see this as the same as the previous threads, since you say that the seat is completely reclined. Others have reported movement that could possibly be due to accidentally hitting the seat controls, but you'd obviously had noticed it going all the way back. Unless you did accidentally hit it and it stuck. Please let us know what (if anything) the dealer finds.

I'm not so sure - it doesn't take long for the seatback to recline fully and the operation is very quiet, if there was even moderate ambient noise it might not be audible.

I know when I found myself bracing myself with my hand on the bolster due to my back injury I didn't notice the seat reclining until I happened to glance over and see it going down. It could be easy to miss.
