Mazda CX-5 2014
Hello,

First time posting, hope I'll do good :-)

I need to replace the brake light (the longer one on the drive side*), not the one into the tailgate, on my CX-5 2014. I'm in Canada, in the Quebec province, anyone had a contact for that ?

And second, I've research in the forum and online and wasn't much successful finding a video explaining how to do it. I was able to remove a part of the plastic at the back of the CX-5 on the left side but it looks like I'll have to remove it completely to get the brake light from there.

Any links, information or help with be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Patrick

There is no brake light in the tailgate.

You only have to pop the plastic trim piece off in the tailgate (a curved ~6inch x 7inch piece). Use a flat head screw driver and pry from the two top points. The brake light connector is grey and twists right off. It should be self explanatory if you look.

Hello,

Thank you for the information. However, my goal is not to replace the light bulb themselves but the entire brake light assembly (where the light bulbs are going in). I need to remove the plastic bottom part where the tailgate close and the entire plastic part from the end up to the bottom of the second row seat.

Where it become a little hardware is when you need to remove the upper part of the large plastic part from the tailgate to the bottom of the seat.

Hope it is a little clearer now

If your talking just the tail light itself, you take off the small plastic piece on the inside of the car. Then there are three nuts you take off. After that, you simply pull straight back on the tail light. Will probably be slightly stiff.

3 10mm bolts, pull gently cause there's also a little white tab attached to it, the tab is located at the edge closest to the corner of the light where it narrows. Use gentle force and do not brake the tab. I took all the lights out to nightshade them.

Thank you to everyone for your help, much appreciated. For the small plastic piece that are you talking about, is that the one you remove to change the light bulbs ? I was thinking that I had to remove all the plastic panel inside the trunk to gain some space ....

Thanks !
