Matchmine closes its doors

Well, with the blink of an eye the Kraft family pulled the funding for my company, matchmine. All 44 employees have been let go and we're all now networking to find new jobs in this lovely economy. Some say its due to their focus on Patriot Place, others say it was Tom Brady's season ending injury...but more likely it is just business and when the economy is slow even the rich start looking for expendable items on their budget.

The good news is that I can finally start returning calls from the recruiters that have been contacting me over the past few weeks. I've spent the last day and a half sending out resumes and have a bunch of phone interviews and a few onsite interviews scheduled for later this week. In the end I hope to come out on top, but what I will miss the most is my colleagues. Everyone at matchmine was top notch and I fear it will be a while before I get the chance to work with another stellar team like that.

sorry to hear chris :( this economy sucks. good luck to you, let us know if we can do anything...what kinda job are you looking for?

Sorry to hear about that Chris. Sounds like you've got some other good opportunities lined up. Good luck- let me know if you have any interest in Analog Devices in Norwood and I'll see what I can find for ya.

sorry to hear the bad news chris! i know how much you liked it there...you land on your feet and have another great opportunity!

sorry to hear that man. I am sure you will find a new "home" in no time. Dont lose hope about having another job with colleagues like you had at matchmine...I have been in that position before and I think more often than not the attitude you bring into the new workplace can create that same close knit team atmosphere as your last job.

Thanks guys for the support.

I'm currently seeking user interface software engineering positions. My active skillset includes Adobe Flex/ActionScript, JavaScript/DHTML/AJAX, as well as PHP and a host of other languages. I've done user interface work at the enterprise level as well as for the web.

I totally feel your pain bro. In my many years as a freelancer I've come across multiple contacts and project opportunities. There are companies that would love to bring me on full time, but as you say it's a shaky economy these days. If you are interested in any freelance projects let me know. In fact I had a client ask me the other day if I knew of someone with Flex skills.

Start a porn distribution company. I heard that the slower economy isn't really affecting that industry.

sorry to hear about that. hopefully you find a fun new job quickly. lucky for you your area is known for being pretty techy so you shouldn't have a problem

if you want something to do in your time off i've been looking for partners for a project that i was planning on starting by myself but since i'm not very good at web development it'll take longer/come out worse than someone like you who knows what they're doing. nothing really technically difficult but if you're interested to find out more let me know and i'll send you the doc i put together with what i have in mind. the basic plan would be develop a working prototype, do a beta rollout, seek venture capital, then look to sell.

can you provide me with some background? A friend of mine is a co-owner of a private company most of their sales are internet they're looking to do MORE with their site... I'm not sure if I'm close to what you'er into but it could be a "side" thing for you in the interim... not sure I could put you in contact.

sorry to hear about the job loss chris, but it's obvious you've got lots of help if you need it and it looks like you're already positioned well with interviews =)

That sucks Chris, good luck with the job hunt, and Chris is right, keep your head in the right place and good things will follow.

Yeah Dan, no kidding. I'm glad my skills are hot right now.

I gave my references to one company this afternoon so if all goes well I will have at least one job offer by the end of the week. It's one of my top choices so I'm pretty psyched. I'll miss all my old coworkers though.
