Manifold Intake

Does anyone know when an intake will be released for the MSP that goes into the engine manifold? I see some people have one already but I'm sure those are custom made. Any ideas?

Yeah. The manifold is the bridge between the intake piping and the engine block. We have a turbocharger and intercooler between the piping from the airbox and the piping to the intake. No intake can go directly to the manifold since it has to go to the turbo.

I think what you are describing is a CAI. That is, piping that goes from the wheel well to the turbo, replacing the stock intake and airbox. Ingen makes one and I think Spool is working on one now.

If you are talking about the piping from the turbo to the intake, then search under "hard pipes" or "hard-pipes". These replace our stock plastic piping from the turbo to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the intake manifold.

If you are talking about a replacement intake manifold then I don't know where you can get one.

Hope this helps.

how does an intake go into an "engine manifold" though? he probably did mean a cold air intake, or hard pipes as Fakhelek described, but what was said made no sense. an intake will never be released that goes INTO the "engine manifold" (your engine has 2 manifolds actually, an intake and an exhaust). it's a turbo, so the intake goes to the turbo, not the manifold, and you would never want an intake to go into a manifold, unless you don't like throttle bodies

I think he ment the intake manifold itself. there are a ton of aftermarket intake manifolds out there for Honda and Acura, but I havent heard of one for the MSP yet. For those who still dont understand, it is that big hunk of metal behind the block with all of the VAC lines in it... The thing between the throtle body, and the block.

Just extrude hone the stock one !! Thats what I plan to do, after I install a CAI and boost controller.. But that all comes after Mazda fixes the hesitation.....

has anyone disassembled the intake down to the block to see if there would be any gains from porting and polished the runners? i know when i did this to my rx-7 it yeilded very good results. i guess its probably worth it???

well, i dunno about dismanteling all that s***. i know its a lot of work, it was about 2 hours in taking the manifold off down to the block in my rx-7 i reslly would know what to expect in this? i just popped the hood to look, id love to do it, i just dunno about all that work.

If you do some honing of the throttle body and the intake runners, combined with an intake you should see some better numbers. All you're doing is opening things up for more air, you might think about going with an external fuel pump and a different set of injectors if you go this far.
