MAM SS or HiBoost

Were those #'s acquired with the turbo kit that is advertised on your website, or is that the new kit that you were working on? Also can you list the parts that were used on your car in the run vs the evo. Thanks.
hiboost has only one complete turbo kit for the protege - to run 20 psi as he is now he is using stronger rods, lower compression pistons, fuel and timing management with a Haltech e6x

so all i'd need to do is beef the block, get the turbo kit, and haltech, up the boost, and my car would perform the same way? Also, I thought hiboost was coming out with a bigger kit? Maybe I was wrong, but I thought i read it somewhere in this forum.

hiboost has one kit for the protege. mental addiction has the street sleeper kit and the thumper kit. hiboost, i thought, was making upgrade parts for the msp but i don't know anymore - juan?

if you reinforce the engine and upgrade components of your stock mazda/callaway turbo system (FMIC, hardpipes, discopotato turbocharger, etc) and run engine management like the E6X there is no need for you to scrap the existing turbo kit for a whole new one. jrodhotrod is a good member to PM about using an E6X for the msp.

I was using the same kit as advertised in the web site with the upgrades we offer.

Basic Kit $3,600.00
Upgrade to Forged rods and pistons $1,350.00
Upgrade to Haltech E6X $450.00
Larger 440cc Bosch injector kit $320.00
ACT Clutch $350.00
Slicks $300.00

We use the ACT heavy duty pressure plate with the organic disc.

Yes, we are comming out with the Big Boost kit with a larger Garrett GT30 Turbo, bigger turbo manifold, Forged internals, Haltech E6X and bigger injectors.

juan do the 440s work with the f10x, and if they do i assume you would need to totally remap the fuel map?

Yes, they do. In fact, our 260 WHP pull was with the F10 and 440 injectors.

That was our first upgrade to the kit.

And you do have to do a complete new map.

one question - in boost my AFR is in the 12s, where should i be at when in vacuum, 14s?

Keep it at 13.8 to 14.2 at cruising , maybe low 13s at no vaccum/no boost and for the most power 11.9 to 12.2 on full boost.

There is a cut off fuel setup to cut the fuel completly at deceleration as a fuel saving device.

really...how?

apologizing for the total threadjack here :D

oooh, 440cc's calling my name Juan....anychance you could send me a copy of the new maps for the F10X and 440cc's if I were to pick them up??

Is there any updates or release dates for the bigger kit? Also, i'm guessing the 20psi is strictly for the track, so on the kit that is now offered, what would be a safe street-daily driven psi. And if possible, could you include a guesstimate on the pricing of the bigger kit.Thanx

If the turbo kit offered by hiboost can safely run at least 20 psi, and put down a 12.5 with no lsd, or forged internals, what is the boost top off of the turbo in that kit?
Also, someone speaking for mam, the ss kit I know puts down at least 196whp, but thats gotta be at a low boost setting. What is the max psi that could come from that kit? Thanks

The GT28RS in the SS reaches about 350hp; it's a little smaller than Hiboost's IHI but it is a quick spooler. If you want more power than that you have to look at the Thumper kit, it will put you 450-550 depending on which turbo you choose. As with ANY kit out there, make sure you have the supporting mods to handle it.

you would need the upgraded ecu (e6x) and definetely rods. the stock rods would not hold up for long. juan uses pauter rods

The IHI VF22 used in our kit is capable of 350WHP as many Subaru WRXs using this turbo are getting and even more.

I would go to 25 PSI max on the FS engine with this turbo. I am in negotiations with IHI to get the RX-6 or similar to get to 500 WHP levels. The Ball bearing IHIs have proven to be bulletproof in many competition cars. The highest HP gains in STIs, Evos, RX7s and Ferraris are using the RX-6 IHI turbos which is the bigger brother of the VF22 that we use standard in our kits.

You need to get the forged rods, lower compression pistons and larger injectors to run 20 psi with C16 VP fuel. The Haltech E6X is not required unless you want to run more boost on the street. I run 19 psi on 91 octane without detonation. With the lower compression pistons and 440 cc injectors and the Haltech F10X included you can run 12 psi on 91 or 15 psi on 93 octane fuel
