Hey guys, haven't posted on here in a while but I'm looking for some help that I can't seem to find on other forums.
I was trying to install 55w DDM HID's with a battery harness, got everything wired up correctly (confirmed by other sources) but when I went to do a functional check of things everything had gone to hell! The HID's did work when I put power to them, but here's my list of bugs:
1) fog lights do not work
2) when key is in 'on' position, low-beams are ALWAYS on regardless of control position
3) door locks / remote keyless entry do not work
4) rear window defog does not work
5) interior dome light works but does not turn on with opening of door
6) intermittent function of wipers (front and back) does not work
7) turn signals / hazard lights do not work
8) radio/HVAC lighting does not react to changes in outside lighting. i.e. the day/night sensor isn't working properly.
Okay, so that's a very frustrating list of very separate systems that all failed after this work.
I have checked every single fuse in the engine bay and behind the glove box. I have swapped relays from systems that I know work (heater) with identical relays for different systems (fogs) but the fault does not follow the relay, so it's not the relays either.
I'm at a complete loss, and my dealership here in Edmonton can't look at it until next Wednesday.
I have a few questions though:
1) Is the engine bay the only area of the car that holds relays?
2) When I use my high beams, I hear a solenoid or relay ticking from inside the steering column, are there more relays or solenoids in the steering column that control fogs, low beams, wipers, etc?
3) how do I open up my steering column to check this area?
4) Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks for any help you guys can give!!
