I drive mine on the street and let it sit in grid @ auto-x's running with the fan on I have never over heated the car. plus with out a shroud you will allow more air flow thru the rad on the track because your not forcing the air thru the shroud.

I'm pretty sure Ivan went to school for that kind of stuff and would be more than happy to help out. Hit him up (fishdonotbounce).
Awesome thread. You're making my want to throw all kinds of money at my RX7..haha
BOOM!
17x9 +22 Enkei RPF1 in black (special order) with 255/40R17 Dunlop Direzza ZII (successor to the Star Specs):
![]()
Comparison of 255/40R17 versus 205/60R15 (what's on the car now). I'm surprised how great the diameter difference is.

Unfortunately the hub rings that came with the wheels don't fit. 59.2 mm != 59.6 mm, thanks Tirerack! Because of that I didn't mess with mounting the wheels, but here's a couple mock up shots.
Rear:

The perspective makes the new wheels seem huge, LOL!
Front.

They still look huge but with the front lip and side skirts I think everything'll even out. I'll probably have to raise the car a bit when all is said and done, which will prove difficult in the rear (already about max'd out). Looks like I'll need to put more preload on the helper springs.
Oh yeah, just a little bit of poke in the front(+20 mm wide fenders coming soon).

Inside clearance is tight in the front but looks doable. I'll check again when the hub rings come in and I put the car back on the ground. Hopefully I'll be able to back off the camber bolts some (added positive camber for last setup) so I can get a little more camber. I'm hoping for -3*/-2* F/R. The inside clearance in the rear will be just fine but I'll likely be massaging the fenders a bit. I'm quite pleased with how everything turned out. I know a lot of people don't like black wheels but I think they work on this car (everything is red/black).
And concave! Sorry, but I've never had concave wheels before and I'm excitedrpf1's....just sexy.
You're telling me! And I thought my previous setup was "meaty." The only thing now is my brakes look TINY! Unfortunately I don't think I could ever upgrade to a BBK as I think most interfere with the concave RPF1's. Oh well...Looking really good! And loving the meaty tires.
They're a lot glossier than I thought they would be. I think they'll match up nicely with the black taillight bezels and I'm planning on painting some/all of the splitter black as well. The only thing is the finish doesn't seem to be too durable. I slipped taking the wheel off the front spindle (it moved because there's no steering rack!) and that was enough to scratch off the pain in the back in a few places. This is also the first set of RPF1's I've owned that don't say "Enkei" all over them. If it ends up bugging me I know I can find red stickers for them.Nice wheels love the color.....Sorry Larry!!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
If you ever have a questions about fitting wheels or tires on the FC let me know as I've done quite a bit of research on it. It's hard to find good information now due to the drift/stretched tire scene.Looks good! One of my all time favorite rims. Black and red works really well on FC's. Mine will be keeping the black and red theme too, but it's not nearly as awesome a car as yours!
Thanks! You have a lot more patience than me if you read through all my rambling in one sitting!just read all 68 pages! insane build!!
Congrats on the baby!
And I thought the 215/40R17 on my old Protege5 was meaty! It's going to be a b**** to turn the front wheels without P/S now!Damn thems some meaty tires!
