huh?

You can't really get anything from the dealer.

Yeah they are not going to sell you anything that will void their warranty. Do some searching on the forums bro. Anyways I like your username. That's the spirit.

quite a few bolt ons for the car. are you looking for anything in particular?

there are alot of "what should i get for my mazdaspeed?" threads. do a search and read up.

i was thinkinking about getting bov and a perrin intake but i have heard aobut the stalling isssues with the bov. What is the best one to get?

best thing to do is to buy a aftermarket intercooler.. side mount or fmic and relocate your maf to the pipe coming off of the intercooler leading to the intake manifold then you can run whatever bov you want without any stalling issues, i have a greddy type rs bov on the hiboost fmic kit

you can also resolve stalling issues by having the BOV recirculate like the stock one does, which can be easily done with GReddy style valves.

Just remember u need some sort of metal piping to mount a BOV or you can run the Forge BOV set up. Either have the BOV recirculated or continue using your stock BPV too with the set up. Until last week I was running a venting Greddy Type S with no stock BPV or stalling issues or turkey noise. I just found out that I had a leaky wastegate and that is why I could do that. Now that my turbo is working like it should I need to upgrade my system to stop the stalling. Don't have the mentality that you need people to hear your turbo spooling and blowing off. Focus on upgrades that improve performance more than just a noise. FMIC, exhaust/downpipe, AFC, CAI. Usually with any FMIC kit you will recieve some sort of BOV set up. Just do some searching and just ask cuz I've learned everything about my car from these forums. Welcome to the MSP world.

Talk to your dealer....

It's not as big of deal as people thing it is to mod their car and still get warranty work done.

A BOV is not a performance mod.

IMHO, the best bang for the buck for highest whp/$ seems to be:

- DSM AFC ($310, www.airflowlogistics.com)
- SMIC ($485, CustomMSP)
- Apex 2.5" Catless Downpipe ($299, www.apexr1.com)
- Boost Guage (endless options)
- Manual Boost Controller set no higher than 10psi (make your own or use a spring)

You can also check the classifieds for used ones as the prices I've listed for new.

You should net a whole lot of whp and probably give a stock SRT4 a run for its money. You'll need forged internals, FMIC, 3" turbo-back exhaust, at least 15psi, possibly a turbo upgrade, and supporting fuel/ignition mods to be an "SRT4 Killer" Those things can make ridiculous amounts of power with not much money. But, I do applaud your enthusiasm.

I beg to differ.... A BOV is a performance mod.

A "performance mod" does not necessarily mean you gain horsepower.

An upgraded BOV allows you to run more boost.

Well, we're just going to have to disagree on that one.

To me a "performance mod" is something that will make your car get around the track faster whether it's higher horsepower, better handling, or better brakes.

The dumb 'ole factory BPV is fine for safe-ish boost levels on a non-forged motor (around 10psi). You'd definately want to upgrade it with a highly modified forged motor to get the most hp out of it.

99% of people who buy a BOV get it for the sound (or to kill the turkey sound). I'll probably get one too when you get me a Corksport FMIC I've been waiting for!

BTW, I just noticed that HorsepowerFreak has got a SMIC in the AV section for $449.

Well a BOV was not created to sound cool. It has a purpose and legit function. If people use them just for the sound then that's their thing (I love when ppl just slap one on their car w/ out addressing MAF and then complain about running issues). Just like downforce areodynamics are performance upgrades. Regardless if people use them for other things, they are performance in their intended/designed use. Joe Ricer w/ the giant aluminum wing is using it as a non-performance part, but this doesnt take away the fact they are functional in proper use.

I haven't read into it a whole lot because I don't really care for the time being. But wasn't it discovered that this so called "turkey sound" was actually compressor surge and it was fixed w/ an upgraded BOV or BPV? If that is the case, then the stock BPV needs to be replaced if even running under 10psi.

Yeah, I have these side mounts on sale right now..... They look great, but I'm holding out for the CS FMIC also. If CS was not making theirs, I would purchase the ET SMIC and have hardpipes made. I still may do the hardpipe thing though and offer them to sell.
