Sam- just the 2 tappered roller bearings that are pressed onto the diff's shaft, or other bearings aswell?

I've built 3 custom quaifes and a few engines before yet tearing into my own tranny scares the hell outta me.

just on the differential. you can replace the others if you choose for insurance like the release and pilot bearings. also, a few people have seen broken guide plates when they tear into their tranny.

TurfBurn sells a great kit and can give you a complete list of parts.
Do not be scared to take this tranny apart. It is cake.
One thing that will get you is if you have a case bolt seize and it snaps.
Little things like that or if the syncro comes apart and you do not know how to reassemble it. But all it all it was not too bad.

Gotta figure out what to do now....

Anybody's tranny whine loudly? Or is it just the kartboy bushing making the noise travel up into the car? Had to change the clutch due to slippage with the added power, so i put BG synchro shift synthetic 75w-90 in it with an act clutch. Could it be the fluid i used, the bushing, or my LSD going???

actually, my tranny whined for a while


hmm...i think that's a very good sign..prolly the LSD twist and having the gear at an angle makes the whining sound...

It is a non-Mazda diff It is a Tochigi Fuji Sangyo Super KK Torque Sensing Limited Slip Differential.
And it is a good unit in function just not in build

Add me to the list. Just got off the phone with Mazda and I need a new differential. Sheered off like the rest of failed differential. My car is an '03 with 70000 miles. He said the one he is ordering is fully casted and can not be welded and should be better. Is this b.s or is this the diff that is in the 03.5 cars after they realized they screwed up.

Would be nice if the 03.5 was Redisigned BUT i dont believe so.

Well mine never whined. I just gave it some gas and started to have a little fun and it started slipping. Thought it was the clutch at first but it went out way to fast. I drifted home but couln't get it out of my driveway. The one mazda is ordering he said is fully casted instead of two pieces pieced together which is where the weak point is. Anybody have any more info on this to help him sleep at night would be appreciated.

The diff can't be a solid piece by design. It has to have something inside like clutches or springs and cones in it. Doesn't sound like this guy knows what he's talkinmg about. From what I remember the newer diff just doesn't engage as hard so as to not put so much stress on itself.
