As many of you saw in this thread http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123622999 I put 18s on the miata. There is still some room to lower as seen the pics below.

My question, has anyone used or heard any positives or negatives about Eibach Pro Kit Springs. I had many a friend use them on their mustangs (I had mustang before miata) and they simply love them on the stangs. The look and performance of them were great, according to mustang owners. Just wondering if miata owners felt the same way.

Thoughts?

i have read all over the place that if you lower a miata you need to get springs and shocks. or you stock ones will die early and you could hit bumpstops a lot. i also have read alot that do not recomend the pro kit. i am not sure why i htink it may have been because the rates were too low. i want to lower mine but i am saving for springs and shocks. and our we gonna see you on monday

just to kinda save ass on the pro-kit, it's something i use and nothing bad has happened yet. i think i remember reading what you read and they mainly stayed away from them due to it not giving them much performance on the autox tracks? i'm still on stock shocks and they have not blown, but i do recommend for your time saving, to go ahead and purchase shocks if you plan on getting springs.

either way, i am satisfied with my purchase of the pro-kit.

I have the Pro-Kit and it doesn't play well with any strut that uses the same body height (in terms of the strut) as the stock unit. With the Pro-Kit mated with such struts, you'll only be left with about an inch of strut travel before the top of the strut body is resting on the bump stop.

In all honesty, I plan to ditch the Pro-Kit as soon as my budget allows it.

"The Pro-Kit is Eibach's premium suspension product and is considered to be one of the world's top performance suspension products. The performance and reliability has been proven in millions of Pro-Kit spring sets sold in all five continents and in over more than 40 countries around the world.

All Eibach Pro-Kits are designed by experienced engineers specialized in chassis dynamics and are tested by seasoned qualified drivers. They are designed to properly and safely lower your vehicle's center of gravity through the use of proprietary progressive spring rates; reducing squat during acceleration, body roll in the turns, and nose dive under braking. Upon installation, your vehicle bethe additional performance provided by the Eibach Pro-Kit. Performance wheels and tires create a larger contact patch which increases comes exceptionally stable and secure under a much wider range of conditions and will provide years of enhanced driving pleasure, whether you are twisting your way through a mountain pass or cruising down the interstate or autocrossing your Miata.

Advantages of the Eibach Pro-Kit:

Excellent ride quality - comfortable in cruising

Sportive handling in cornering, resulting in improved performance

Lowered center of gravity, increased stability."

totally went against what i said earlier about the autox. :l

Granted, the are nice and cushy driving down the road. However, the spring rates aren't that much higher than that of stock.

Auto-x or not, I have no problem laying the strut body into the bump stops during spirited driving, which is not ideal in any case.

Yea I have decided against the Eibachs, since I don't have enough clearance. I have got to look into further performance springs to get the lowered look but no rub. We will see. thanks for the advice everyone.

Unfortunately, springs alone won't work. It's the inherent design of the Miata. Either the upper perch must be modified or the strut body itself must be shorter.

All things said, you may want to confirm this since you have an NB. I'm speaking from an NA standpoint. From what I've gathered and remember, however, the above holds true.

Seems I am going to have to redo the complete set up, new shocks, new springs and coilovers to adjust ride height so I don't rub. Man this stuff is getting pricey, oh well... :D

i know some people get the koni shiocks with adjustable perch and they can lower just a bit by changing the perch, without even getting new springs.

Now there's a thought.

Eibach's are not recommended by the majority of the Miata community. I remember years ago I read a reason to back that statement....but I cant remember it. (stoned)

I went with the FM spring and KYBAGX setup, and added the rear pillow mounts as well. I was very happy with the result and have had no problems. Also performance wise its a good way to go. For the NB I believe you can get everything but the rear mounts.

I had the Eibach's on my turbo shadow and it seemed to just lower it, and make it sloppy. But that was also on a different car than the Miata.

Have you thought about coilovers?

Vash-

Eibach springs are what the Spec Miada guys run...

I run Tokico Illuminas w/matched Eibach springs (on the Yatta)...they have been good to me thus far.
