Lowering a MSP

i have ground control on my car and couldn't be happier. The ride is a tad stiff but if you're used to riding in a lowered car, you will get used to it real soon. If you are going for looks i would definately suggest GC, here is what the car looks like:

Here is how much wheel gap I have, BTW this is as low as it can go, and it is the same at all 4 corners.

I have not seen an MSP on the Teins that didn't look like the back was raised and the front was dumped. I am happy with my Eibach Pro Kit but the drop is even and modest, which I wanted, and the ride is very similar to stock.

supman- I love the way your car looks, any pros w/ the front skirt scraping?

Thanx!
i haven't scrapped yet, you just have to be very careful and go one wheel at a time over speed bumps.

if you get coilovers your weight will be messed up . each tire will have a different amount of weight on them and it would mess up ur handles, with springs you'd lower your car and have the same if not better handles. But its hard to lower the msp any lower. i havent seen many lowered much more than stock height. even with springs.

Who told you that?
I think they lied to you....

I new to lowering cars and i was just wondering what the best way to lower a msp about 2 inches for under $500. Spending $500 am I just gonna get crap? I know ground controll makes coil overs for like $300 but i have heard there crap and will break something.
ground control's are far from crap. I had a set of ground controls on my miata, and a buddy of mine had them on his Eclipse GSX. Both of the cars saw quite a bit of hard driving, many many many track days, and susequently a lot of un-intentional off-road excursions. We NEVER had a problem with them, and could just about pass any car out there. We had them with Koni yellow's. So I would def. vouch for the ground controls. The only thing is, you still gotta buy shocks. And i'd recommend either the yellow or double-adjustable koni's. Excellent. Durable, too.

You would have to spend an extra couple hundred dollars to adjust the weight exactly. U cant just eyeball it and adjust them urself and expect them to be perfect. So everytime u change the ride height u have to check to make sure ur weight distribution is correct.

i just installed the eibach sportlines in my car last night, and i am really pleased. the drop is great and i think the rear should settle a little bit more soon. I will try and get some pictures soon.
Right now i can get barely one finger in front and one in back.

i'm looking to drop my car a lil' bit so i can differ from the other msp @ my skewl...i just read this whole thread but i don't knoe which setup to go w/ plus i don't have a lot of money. so i'm probably only going to get springs. which springs r better ? tein or eibach ?

$205 from www.apexr1.com

installation was easy, air tools rock
front two wheels took only about 20 min each
rear took a little longer due to positioning of struts in akward positions. Steering wheel is crooked now, must get alignment.
anyone have the MSP special alignment specs off hand?
spring compressors were 40$ from autozone, and you could either return them for a full refund or keep them for 40 afterwards.

STLBLKMSP and supman, how much of a drop is there?

Eibach says that is suppose to be a 2" drop, like Emode said. I can get one finger between the tire and the bottom of the wheel well in the front and barley two fingers in the back.

its really a preference thing....full coilovers are worthless unless u plan to race ur car on a reg. basis like stated before....if u want the look for cheap, get springs...if u want a nice once in a while coilover get the gc coilovers.....im thinkin about gc coilovers with custom spring rates....my nephew is gettin the same for his civic hybrid.....

Does anyone here know if the H&R springs for the MP3 will work with the MSP?

I know they will fit, but does anyone have the spring rates so that we can compare and contrast to others?

sweet jesus..

so if i were to get GC coilovers i woudld have to get new shocks as well? how much we talkin all 2gether money wise?

I dont really wanna spend alot of cash, specially with 2 slashed tires. but i dont wanna put crap on my baby or risk ****** her up.

Springs are the rite price, and give a good look but if GC coilovers are better ill go for em.

Also my driving habbits are kind of mellow-ish but i can see myself havin some fun in summer.

thx.
