On vacation...

I will be in Italy for a week, 2 of the days will be in Monza for the F1 races and I will have 4-5 more to explore what Italy has to offer. After that I will be in Holland for another 6 days.

For anyone that has been out there or knows any great places that I shouldn't miss out on I'd like to know... I plan on going to venice for sure, and getting a pure taste of italian food amongst the area.

Holland will be great for beer and chocolate, and will probably stop at moulin rouge for a show near Amsterdam. I might be looking for an area to do some (wrc) too :)

Just looking for some info, thanks! (drinks)

If you are looking for historical things to go see, visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Vatican City (Sisteen Chapel), Last Supper, and see the David. Those are the few I can think of off the top of my head. I haven't been there since 1989, so it is hard to remember what we saw that long ago.

Oh, and TAKE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!! It is a totally worthwhile experience that I hope to do again before I die.

You're going in the land of the tifosi? lucky you!

if you want to do some driving, check out F1 international, i think you can get a good package; if you make it to Belgium, definately go to Spa-Francorchamps, your ride might be waiting for you...

dude...go to the maranello/modena area. lamborghini and ferrari (and a couple others i think) are located a short distance from one another. i've never been, but if i do go to italy in the future, that's where i'm heading for sure!!

lucky you!!

if you have a friend that owns a Ferrari get them to talk to a Ferrari dealership. they should be able to get you a pass to go inside the Ferrari factory tour. you generally won't be allowed on the property otherwise...
if you plan to hit up the Vatican you should plan for a major portion of a day; the lines are huge and it takes forever. you should look into getting your int'l driver's license (its only like $25 at AAA) then you might look into renting a skooter while in Italy, its much faster to get around in than a car in Rome...
Plan on spending a lot of money in the vending machine shops in Amsterdam... you should also check out the Escher and Van Gogh museums in Amsterdam they are the most amazing museums I've ever been to (I'm a big fan of both :D ). there is a smaller town outside of Amsterdam (can't remember the name) that is supposed to be almost as cool to hang out in as Amsterdam itself.

have fun. (rofl2)

I really liked Florence, Rome you should be able to get around on the crowded and stinky subway :p . Don't forget the colliseum. ;)

Hmmm...well, I go ever second summer, soooooo... :D

Given where you're located (Monza), Venice (Venezia) is a great start. I'd also check out Florence (Firenze) if I were you, and Milan (Milano; not anywhere as incredible as either Florence or Venice, but at least you get to see Il Duomo). Pisa, well, there's nothing to see there but that tower...

Plan on bringing LOTS of money, given how expensive those cities are (as I'm more familiar with them, I don't get caught in a lot of those tourist traps - anymore... :p ).

That should take up all available time you may have. It's a pity, because going to Rome (Roma) would be a bonus (I'd move there in an instant if someone would offer me a job), as would going further south to the Amalfi coast (great chicks hang out there). However, now that I think about it, you can get to Rimini quite easily from where you'll be (it's a seaside resort on the eastern coast well south of Venice that used to be very popular with the Italian university crowd at one point in time...it may have gotten back that crowd in the last year or two...).

Trust me when I say this - don't try to do everything at once, you'll never succeed (I've been going to Italy since I was born, and I've yet to see everything). Pick 2 or 3 (maximum) places, and plan on seeing those.

Good luck, and carees a fine Italian woman for me while you're there.

Have you heard the song "The Tourist" by Radiohead? :p

I was in holland last summer. If you like to puff, you will have a good time. Might want to check out the Hieneken factory.. it is a good deal, and you get 3 free beers, plus a free glass.

One thing i recomend if you go to amsterdamn, take a tour'd bike ride around the city. I took a 4 hour bike tour, it was a lot of fun and i got to learn a ton of history as well. We even went out to the country and got some cheese, watch them make clogs and checked out windmills.

Have fun, italy sounds awesome.
