Long term mileage

2022CX5 PP
I averaged 21.96 MPG with a Standard Deviation of 0.75. This covered 5,994 miles from November 16th 2008 to May 20th 2009. Easy suburban driving without AC during late fall, winter and spring here in Cape Coral Florida. Use 5w30 PP & Wix or OEM filters. I discoved that my transmission like to hang onto 4th & 5th gear. If I'm driving a good distance at 35-40, I bump it into 5th by easing off the throttle lightly and do the same if driving 45-50, I back off and let the AT drop into 6th gear. I'm not a hipermiler but, see no sense to keep it in a lower gear than necessary. Just a thought. Ed

Latest Re-Flash Upped MPG

I didn't want to start a new thread, so I thought this one is a good fit.

I had to take my 2007 AWD in for some minor warranty/dealer work, as I do not go to them regularly because of the distance. While it was in they completed a reflash of the PCM to the latest version (XXCJVXFX.3 is the only code I have). The service manager said I should get better performance, and I figured yea right, because none of the early reflashes I had done seemed to make any difference.

Not this time. From the moment I drove off the lot, things just seemed smoother, and it felt as if the power & acceleration were enhanced. I also had a sense that I was getting better mileage, and I was.

After one tank, I averaged just under 20 mpg and that was NOT mostly highway. (In fact, about 200 of the 343 miles were through the mountains in PA, on two lane roads with the turbo humming up every climb.) This mileage came in more than 1 mpg above my 2 year/12,000m avegage of 18.7.

I still love driving this ride. It is a driver's car.

I also had the reflash performed on the TCM & ECM about 15 months ago. aI to noticed a difference in my vehicle.

I've had this happen on my 09 also. Bought it in March, and every once in a while it will drop from 5th to 4th when I let off the gas. Probably around 40mph or so. Kind of annoying!
