All arguing aside that was funny as s***. That little orange bastard just kept going, and going, and going. You can tell the F150 driver is trying like heck to catch up but the GT driver is just not trying; it almost seems like they are afraid of the car while the MSP driver is in "the zone."
And our stock tires are soft but not that sticky you can get way more stick out of better tires plus the suspension can definitely be upgraded.
This video is a keeper it will probally be the only time you see an MSP pass a GT lol :)

Yes, this video is so damn funny.
I didn't pay attention to the first post of this thread. I just downloaded the video. When I first watch it, I thought, "oh! One of another those boring racing video take with on-board camera." Then laughed my ass out when I saw that un-mistakenable(smoke) Orange MSP zoom pass the GT.

Any moderate experienced driver who played enough Gran Turismo in their free time can perfrom better than that driver in the GT. Maybe he is simply too rich and never bother to get a PS2.

what if the gt was waving the bolt on to pass and the msp took advantage?

Even if that was the case, it doesn't make any difference I guess.
Notice how the GT failed to chase back the MSP later on in the video?

I think this is exactly what happened, the reason the MSP goes by so fast is that the GT driver probably didn't even see him coming. He was waving by the Lightning, who knew the MSP was coming, so he didn't pass. The GT driver slows down substantially waiting for the Lightning to pass.

As far as the "limits of the chassis," that is just crap. Every chassis can be improved on. I had a 408 hp 76 Vega that rouinely ran with the Porsches, Vipers (modded) and Ferraris at PIR. Each day I'd show up and someone would always make a joke about "Friday night drags." The jokes stopped after the first session. The car can be seen in Tony Huntimeier's book "How to Build GM Pro-Touring Cars." The car was totally street legal as well, fuel injected, T-5, with 13" Baer brakes.

The MSP in the video could have been a full tube frame chassis with rear wheel drive, 20B and twin turbos. Until someone comes out with the facts, this thread is stupid.

some food for thought or argument whatever...

It appears very little among you know what tires are worth on a track. The GT was on streets, I was on Avon Tech Rs. GT was dead stock. Everyone was passing him at Gingerman, almost no one at Shannonville. The drivers were SVT engineers, good at Shannonville and terrible at Gingerman

Somebody post a vid link on the Ford GT board, stir up some s**t!

Some magazine testing (don't remember which) has reported 0.91G for a stock MSP. And there are better tires out there than those RE040.
Nevertheless, we can't compare apple and oranges

yes, they let the MSP pass, but explain why the MSP continued to put distance on the Fords.... simple answer: without more long straights the course is more suited to the handling of the MSP than the big powered Fords.

of course the damn GT pointed me by, that's how it works at a track. Cars come up behind you, you let 'em by. The bolt just wanted footage from behind the GT, he waved off the pass, so I took 'em both.
