Oh I hear ya, and can agree... but think of all the goofy nuances you found with your last engine and trying to figure out exactly what it was. If they had to do that for every single type of engine they sold...
I was going to ask in the NJ if someone wouldn't mind doing just that. Thank you! The KL's I was looking at on eBay were from JDM Engine Zone in Clifton. But I've heard reviews about both suppliers and both seemed like they do a good job.
Hell yes. Thanks very much. I'll probably be ordering in the next couple weeks so if you wouldn't mind scoping one out for me, and marking it so I know that's the one I'll receive I would GREATLY appreciate it. (2thumbs)
i cant pass up a chance to go look at motors i cant afford lol. i own a 240 and im sure there will be rb swaps there that i will drool over so itll be worth the trip
Hahaha! Yeah, I'm lucky these KL's are so bloody cheap. I'll let you know if the next couple days what to look for when headed over there and if I'll set up an appointment for you so they know you're coming and that you can check one out for me, snap some pics and mark it. Maybe sometime this week if you're available?
edit- yup, that's the one. A lot of suppliers don't really know the difference in the curve neck and straight neck, but I definitely want a curve neck. One without the crank case tube on the front valve cover, with Japanese on the timing belt cover and marked KL-01 on the heads.
Like this;
Without the crank case vent tubing on the valve cover, like this;
And whacky Japanese on the timing belt cover, like this;
i gotta find out what time they close if they are there til like 7 i can swing by after work. if not itll have to be a sat and this sat is the occ meet. unless they close later on sat cuz i should be back by like 230 3 the latest.
Lulz. That's a good price for someone who went zoom-zoom-boom with their 1.8l though. That's why I'm not too worried about popping motors after I boost it, they're $640 shipped to my door. And no huge rush if you have plans, man. The KL won't be going in for another month or so anyway.
Their motors are much cheaper on eBay so I was just hoping someone could check them out in person before I bought one since they all use the same pics for the listing. And like you said, you get to drool over some RB's there too. There's a cat here in Cleveland with an RB26 240 and it's amazing. I soil my knickers every time I hear/see it.
