For intercoolers, just look for a generic one. Save you money, and the function is still there.

Well a Mishimoto is a decent brand and only about $150 shipped. I worry about the tig welds on the cheap eBay ones, ya know? But I'll be going with an eBay piping intercooler kit. And since it looks like no one really makes the hot pipes I'll go with an eBay kit there as well. I'll just ask Josh or Wes to inspect all the welds really well and patch up/reinforce anything before it goes on the car. Research, research, research...

Most of the time, the name brands are just generic cores with a name painted on them. For $150, that's not bad at all.

I wonder... is there any measurement of the pressure drop across the cores? Big core with a high pressure drop could bite you in the ass.

Hmm... I should shut up now because I'm just going to end up giving you more stuff to research...

Your ride isn't cool unless you're using air ride suspension and ITBs. Just saying :p

Air ride can be functional. Especially with the newer kits that are out there. But I know that's not what your'e going for at all. I was just saying...

That's certainly an option. And we all know he does great work.

Wes keeps talking about buying all sorts of big boy tools like plasma cutters and tig welders so maybe when it's time for piping he will have one by then. Muhaha.

I definitely want as few couplers as possible, of course.

Still my inspiration;

You can always cut and reweld the ebay pipes, and maybe once over them with some hi temp paint to prevent them for rusting and helps with oxidation, just to be on the safe side since you yanks gotta use salt on your roads :p
(I believe snow, ice and freezing temps are urban legends, also I'm getting ready for a 120 degree summer everything's bigger in Texas especially temperature highs for the day)

A tig would be cool, and I know you have a giant boner for me to get one, but it's probably one of the last things on the fab tools list. I don't have much use for aluminum yet. There's always room to expand, though...

Have you checked Craigslist lately? Mazda 6's for parts in Akron, and Columbus areas. Links didn't work for me or they would be here but check em out.

My front Mazda6 front brakes finally shipped from ProbeTalk, 3 weeks after I sent payment. Oy vey. Why don't links work for you, Larry? The only Mazda6 I see being parted out is in Hinkley. If you or Josh (apparently he cruises CL all the time too) see any rear calipers/rotors for a 2006-2011 Mazda6 lemme know. :)

And the current plan is to go N/A to break in the rebuilt transmission and new clutch and make sure the MegaSquirt is wired up correctly. I thought my exhaust setup was going to sell quickly with all the P5 KL swaps but apparently not. So I'll enjoy it as an N/A JDM KLDE for a couple months while saving/whording turbo parts. But it will still be a turbo KL P5 in the winter.

sounds like a gem Lewie.

I'd love to get that exhaust from you - but I can't justify the extra cost right now. Mine is functional and sounds pretty damn good to me.

I'm expecting some boost parts to start materializing in my house soon, as I've done some work for a guy that owns a tunershop down here in League City TX. He needed pro installation for his theater at home - so I hooked him up. Still undecided on ECU though - I think MS would be nice, but it's sooooooo damn expensive.

Well the plug and play system for the 93-94 PGT is about to come out in a couple weeks with a base map for ~$700. Not bad at all for a standalone ECU. But I understand having to pull your KL harness and swap in a 93-94 PGT harness would be a PITA.

And I'm glad you're loving your KL P5. It's awesome to see so many here on 247 now. (2thumbs)

I couldn't have done it without your thread, and OCD slowness lol. Consider yourself a trend setter

I'm trying to track down a way to make a jumper harness, the ECU's side of the connector wired directly to MS.. oh wait your on the OBD1 plugs aren't you lewis?
Maybe somebody has a burnt out OBD2 ECU

But yes pulling the old harness is less than ideal...

Meh. I got a ton of help from Justin (IukekiniProtege), many other members here on 247 and my local Team Ohio Mazda crew. I really didn't do much but pay for the parts and connect a couple things. But it's really cool that everyone is willing to share info and help each other out. I know I'll be asking tons of questions when it's turbo time... haha
