Lewis7789 MS6 GT build thread

Didn't get much done yesterday... I did wash it and scrub off the dirty paw print stains from wrenching the previous weeks. And added an unamused smiley to the rear bumper. Looking forward to re-dipping it soon.

Had a Mountain Dew with dinner so decided to install my JBR shifter bushings around 11pm last night. haha. Pretty straight forward install and a little noticeable increase in shifter stiffness. Not nearly as much as I was expecting coming from Protege shifter bushings for for $25 shipped, they're worth it.

Put the new rotors on all four corners, and Hawk HP+ pads in the front (rears were wrong part numbers so I'll order some this weekend. They are just Hawk HPS from last year) flushed the old Wilwood 600 fluid and bled the system with my new fancy pants Motive pressure bleeder. I have to re-learn how to heel-toe downshift again. Holy firm brake pedal and awesome pads. haha

I wanted to swap in the SS clutch line but was too tired... Old man problems...

Prostrate!?! .....Long weekend of wrenching..does take its toll! Thanks for the help, the seat is great and the extra headroom.....priceless.

Haha, yeah. Re-wiring Marc's car Saturday for 9 hours then mine and yours on Sunday. I was pooped. But Marc's RX-7 is going to be awesome and will look very pretty.

But the good news is after Mark Gibson tunes this thing this Saturday I'll be done with major mods and will just focus on auto-x and track days to improve my driver mod.

Haha, yes. I had them on my black P5 and they didn't squeek at all. Now on Fatty they squeek as much as Phen's MSM. I'm waiting for someone to say "You need new brake pads, dude.".

And they dust like crazy too, I forgot about that. But the pay off is worth it. I can only imagine what track pads feel like. Why would anyone need to upgrade to the CorkSport front rotors is beyond me... haha

Yea, these were plenty sufficient on the track.
And tons of people told me "you need new brakes." After awhile I just started agreeing as explaining it was pretty much pointless.

Or do what someone did with the Wilwood 4 piston setup that covers half of the rotor...

Thank you Phen! I said something and was pretty much called retarded, Wilwoods bro wilwoods for the hard park bro!

Mike Coyne is the one that just installed the kit but I can't find the picture he posted of his caliper covering half the rotor

4 pistons mean dick if you're clamping less surface area. The Bavaria has 4 pistons on the fronts and cover the whole rotor. Junk.

Is the pad size the same between the stock setup and the new setup?

I'm not sure what's up with it. I'll try to find the picture and post it up here. Hopefully the phone will cooperate.

Right. Heaven forbid he listen to any of us who told him he was dumb. Oh well. If I had his money to piss away on cars, I'd burn mine.

I always laugh at big brake kits, especially if you are not tracking the car or plan on running R-Comps.........It seems that always forget another essential component when it comes to braking...tires.......I guess the forget that tires are an important factor in stopping the car....

and that's what people usually cheap out on.

Evan, saw you post on Facebook about some JDM tails, thinking of getting them?
