Yep. I love my P5. It's one helluva great winter beater / grocery getter... when it's not broken.

Yeah the wheels are +48 offset and tires would be 215/40/17. I dont know how much lower my car is from stock. Here is a photo of it with stockers on. I really need it to be still usable to carry stuff with maybe 3 people in the car and a trunkful of luggage to travel back and forth from school.

Im sorry for the thread jack though but I got really excited when I saw the wheels that I wanted on your car!

^^^ No worries, mate. You're not thread jacking and I'm always up for helping other Mazda owners out. Especailly the 22v's! Your car looks good, btw.
I simply advise rolling your rear fenders with a fender roller. I "rolled" mine last summer with a baseball bat and probably did more damage than good. A few weeks ago I used a fender roller and they came out MUCH better and I don't have to worry about rubbing any longer. I still haul stuff around in my car too, so I hear what you're saying about wanting to actually use the station wagon for it's inteded purpose. Hell, that's the reason I bought my wagon, to haul my gear around.
There are a lot of great wheels and tires out there and do your research and triple check all the number. I would honestly go with a 205/40 tire if you plan on having your friends and gear in the car a lot. Yes, they aren't as wide, but you won't need to worry about rubbing. Then again, it could just be my particular car and set up. Some cats run 215/40 tires and don't rub at all.

And yes, 115whp isn't a lot. I was honestly just hoping for 100whp and I would've been happy. I didn't buy this car because it's fast. I bought it to haul my upright bass around and didn't want to buy an SUV. I couldn't afford an STi wagon, Audi Wagon or anything fast. I'm happy with my dyno numbers and my license plate.

If you wanted a sports car you should've bought a sports car.

Yeah p5 love! I autocrossed my miata this morning, and cruised in the protege later. They are both super fun cars.

Lewis, your car is coming along quite well, I really dig it.

Your car looks sweet, man. We should do a photoshoot, especially with both having silver cars! I've got a basic SLR, some basic lenses and basic knowledge of PS. And I've got some basic mods on my car, so I've got basic about covered.

Haha! Thanks man. She's a little rough in person. But I'm always down for a photo shoot. Basically anything basic sounds good.

Exhaust update- I'm finally getting used to it. heh-heh. It's still bloody loud though. I'm going to pick up a Magnaflow high flow cat from Summit Racing sometime this month when I have the monies and have that welded into the Corksport midpipe. That should remove some of the raspiness and angry bees, plus it will be legal for E-check in two years.

But I do love downshifting and letting the clutch out really slowly to get those gurgles and pops.

This weekend I'm going to paint my valve cover wrinkle black and fix my rust spot on the rear wheel well. Gotta remember to bring my respirator home so I don't pass out from all the fumes in the garage... heh-heh

I wonder if the P5 header fits the 626. It's the same engine, but I'm not sure about the pipe routing. I've just got a cheapo ebay header (all that's available now), but it's hitting the tranny case and sounds terrible.

I'm interested to see what kind of difference the high flow cat makes. I've got the stock one on mine. I had to add a resonator when I got new exhaust piping to get rid of the rasp.

I'm sure the paint is nothing compared to phen's muscle car!

Can't wait to see the valve cover, that should be sweet.

Haha! Yeah- Phen usually leaves a good hour before me every morning for work and when I open the garage door its still a blast in the face of gasoline fumes. Running just a weeeee bit rich are we?

No worries to stay on topic, it's my thread. heh-heh. I don't think he's tuned her, per se. I know he ran an auto-tune on it on the way home from the dyno and he said it felt much smoother. I think in order to get her "tuned" it's going to cost him $400-$500 and a day at the dyno, so he's saving cash for it.

As for the VC, I'm just going to stop at Summit Racing and get some high heat spray paint. Then I'm going to mask everything and paint it while it's still on the head. (Gasp! What? He's not taking OFF the VC!?) Yes, I'm not taking off the VC, I don't want to buy a new $45 gasket. I'm sure it will turn out just fine because I'm just that anal with masking tape and have patience. No worries. I'll post pics this weekend.

And it's funny everytime I use Phens xbox to watch a NetFlix movie, your name pops up that you're online. So stop interrupting my movies. Haha

What do you mean? AFR's in the 10 range is tuned... kinda. It's like tuning a guitar at A= 438 while the rest of the band is tuned to A = 440...

^^^ Ahhh! That's making my brain twitch just thinking about it! Nooo!

I thought your AFR's were in the 9's and you were going to go back to OST Dyno to tune it? I don't know. Haha!

I painted my valve cover. It came out pretty well, I think.

I used Rustoleum high heat engine paint from Autozone for $6. I cleaned it up a bit with a wire brush, blew it off really well with the air hose, wiped everything down really well with rubbing alcohol and used about 3/4 of the can of paint. Let it dry over night.

Looks better in person than in the picture, I must say.

I mean... the picture looks good, but... yeah. You know.

Flushed the coolant yesterday and replaced the thermostat. It was actually MUCH easier than I expected. I just disconnected the lower hose and let the radiator drain, and disconnected the lower hose from the thermostat housing so it would drain from the block too. Then flushed it all out with the garden hose (probably killing our plants in the process. heh-heh). I haven't flushed it since owning the car (2-1/2 years) and couldn't bring myself to pay a Jiffy Lube place $85 to do it. And I replaced the thermostat while i was already there, it was only $10.

Then went to Autozone and got to argue with the salesman about what a thermostat gasket is. "Well if it doesn't show up in my computer then you don't need it."- Salesman. Quickly followed by a facepalm. I just reused my stock one.

She's still running like a champ. (band)
