Leavin the MSP world and getting.......

How did they do? I know they have tons of power and AWD but they also are heavy beasts. Any impressions on their performance? Thanks

one guy had close to one of the best times. he was in the 31's, a 911turbo and z06 got into the low 30's. They had a little more body roll than i expected. but it may have just been b/c they were going so damn fast. I was working when they ran. 4 drivers and 2 evos. so i saw about 20 evo runs. They did well, the drivers look pretty experience.

thought of the day, there is a $15,000 price difference, and since all you are yearning for more power, take the MSP, and spend $15,000 to make a power plant just as high output as the evo 8, and you'll get more respect! Hmm, be lazy and buy a fast car, or BUILD a fast car. think about it. that'd be one FAST SWEET MAZDA!

Best of Luck to everything with you and your future wife.
As for the car, i can see your point of view as i have wrote up in my 'second thoughts' thread.

MS is a Awesome car and i know i would miss it if i sold it. But having owned it now i still get thoughts of owning other cars, such as the ones you listed above.

If money isn't an issue, from the choices above i would definetely get the 2004 Subaru WRX. I love the head headlights and options that they offer now.

How much are you able to sell your MSP for ? What much milage do you have on it?

the AWD beasts aka rally monsters. i really want one of those. the evo and STi are going to dominate the WRC. just don't get an SRT (ooooo i said it). the one at Rim didn't even finish (testament to dodge's AWESOME reliability and build quality, and 4 u agr, those rear cranks... lol:P) oh yeah the protege finished 4th in group 2 and 27th (i think) overall (thats right, there is a rally protege (mp3?) out there on the scca pro rally circuit. GOOD LUCK STP!!!

I think you're smoking something there! The WRX and Evo are OLD NEWS in the WRC! One win in the last year (I don't count Monte Carlo last year since a Citroen actually won, but got excluded...

Maybe in a couple years, but the WRX and especially the Evo are close to also-rans in the WRC. In the US rally scene, the WRX and Evo ARE tops because no one else is playing...

I wouldn't toss EITHER out of the driveway, though... :D

I don't know how much you paid for your 2003 MSP but the Evo clocks in at $29k and the wrx sti at $31k. Those come from the sti/ evo shootout in the latest issue of Automobile. Stero will be a dealer instaled option but since some many people go custom it's not that bad of an idea to save money.

Both cars have A/C and the Evo has a stock radio. The article stated that the STI was a gentler ride then the Evo but they liked it that way. No sure what you meen these aren't daily drivers I think thats what the majorty of drivers will use them for.

STI = 300hp/300ft toruqe how much money would you need to spend to get the MSP to that level. Don't forget the new seats, pimp stock wheels/tires, h.id. lighting and brembo big brake kit.

Ok, some people don't like the design of the car but don't hate on everything else.

$35,000 (if you 'even' can get the Evo that cheap) - Give me a 350Z Track Edition. A better overall quality product then either the Mitsu or the Subaru. Not to mention; pretty bad ass in it's own right.

no standard stereo, but dealers will have stereo as options. all the wiring is there (as i have read) so that a stereo is easily installed as packages if the buyer so wishes.

hey some people only want performance.

ever consider this...the majority of stereos that come from the factory suck ish anyways....id rather put an aftermarket in and pay less at the dealer..

Pulling out the Kenwood was the first thing I did to my MSP...I just didn't want to try to decipher all those buttons that did like 3 different actions each...and that remote sucks!!

The EVO8 is a stinking POS. I'm on board with AGR#7 with this one, if you have $35 grand to spend on a car, buy a 350Z track edition or better yet a Mazdaspeed RX8 (when they get here). Or the best, PUT THE THIRTY FIVE GRAND IN THE STOCK MARKET, and watch it grow. In a few years you can go out and buy any POS Mitsu that your little heart desires!

A guy at my appartment complex has an EVO8, what a stupid looking rear wing! I think the car might take off with that thing and recall the old glory of the Zero fighter plane. Banzai!!!

Go ahead, spend your money on a company that killed thousands of American troops during WWII. I'm sure every Vet will thank you as you blow past; displaying to them that all important quater mile time.

yup..buy one of those two cars so the evo can burn you.....it might not be as nice on the inside..but its definetly faster...youve never experienced the beauty of awd..have you..

disclaimer: don't take this as a flame, it's just my opinion
I would much rather be cruisin' in a 215hp Merc. Benz than speeding in a 270hp anything (except maybe a 270hp Benz)
and yes I have experienced the "beauty" of AWD

I doubt it, I owned a Mitsu. before I bought my MP5 and hated it. Something was always screwing up on it. Another thing, I bought it brand new, and Mitsu. was sending me a recall every few months. Their brakes suck, they're a b**** to work on if you do any of the maint. yourself, I could go on and on....

So true, for 35,000 dollars, why buy a glorified econo car. My money would go towards a used NSX or RX-7. Or I would buy a used truck, and a boat and some toys. The point I am trying to make is that if people choose to spend money on a car they like, then there is nothing we can really do about it. If someone asked you "why are you buying that POS? for that money you can buy this kind of car" I bet you wouldn't like it. I think we need to remember that people enjoy making their own decisions...as they should. Peace out people.

theyre very easy to work on..i own a 97 eclipse gsx..my brakes rock..not many other cars for the price come with twin piston calipers...and have you seen the brakes on the evo?!!? the rotors are huge, not to mention the four piston calipers in bright red paint staring at you...
