Leavin the MSP world and getting.......

That was my personal experience. And that experience will probably keep me from ever buying a Mitsu. again.
And what I had was a Galant, plagued with brake problems.

yeah i <3 ed my mitsu before it got jacked and stripped at that time it was stole my best time was a 11.68 @ 122 i would still have that car if that didnt happen and i considered getting the evo8 but after thinking " Damn my car was in the shop for its 7th transmission so i really want to get another AWD mitsu?" I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED!!!!(k) (k) (k) (k) here is a link to a pic to my clipse http://home.austin.rr.com/ptp/brian.htm
that shop can KISS MY ASS TOO!!

I think the EVo kicks arse and I wouldn't dare compare the EVo8 to any other Mitsu available in the US market right now. I highly doubt that it's a POS and I am really getting tired of some of the MSP owners thinking that their car all that great. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but only 170hp. Talking smack about the EVO8 or the STi and calling the EVO8 a POS is flat out jealousy in my opinion. So the EVO8 is a POS because your old Galant had brake problems :wtf:. Now that's kinda silly. Or better yet, that's like me telling people not to buy a Mazda because my swaybar clunks....in cold weather. In regards to the tranny and motor both are pretty much bullet proof according to the Aussie & UK communities.

I find these comments about the EVO and STi amusing. I've been aware of these cars for about 9 years now and not once did I think that we would ever actually get them here in the states. I'm happy their both here and you get a pretty damn solid package for the price. You get the brakes, the seats, the AWD drivetrain, excellent tires, etc. Hell the EVO even comes with adjustable HID's and a carbon fiber rear wing. Not to mention the EVO's aftermarket support which has been in existence for over a decade now and of course the EVO ans STi are out of our price ranges. We do drive friggin Proteges after all. There's quite a difference there and that's plain as day.

OK, first of all I never said the evo was a POS, all I said was that I PERSONALLY would probably never buy another mistu. because of my previous experience. Second of all, I don't own a MSP, I own a really slow MP5, but it does get me to school every day and only costs about $35 a week in gas for that purpose.
So, you want to know what I find amusing? People, like yourself, going off on others without really reading what they had to say. Now that's kinda silly.

just think of what you could do:
evo8: $35000+
msp: $20000
price difference: $15000

spend $15000 on the engine get a bigger turbo, get the same amount of power in a Mazda!

:) Best of luck with what ever you buy. I like the EVO better then the WRX, however I'm sure the STI will capture lots of attention too. I love my SPEED...

(mspb) (boobs)

But it will always be FWD and the chassis wont be as rigid. It's a more economical decision to just buy something like the Evo or the STi than to dump in 15K on an MSP. You'll still have a warranty and a decent resale value.

I had a 95 eclipse GST before and it was way easy to work on. I've never had problems with any mitsu product and ive workedon many of them. I'm really familiar with the 4g63 engine so the evo fit the description perfectly for my next car.

I think you're smoking something there! The WRX and Evo are OLD NEWS in the WRC! One win in the last year (I don't count Monte Carlo last year since a Citroen actually won, but got excluded...

Maybe in a couple years, but the WRX and especially the Evo are close to also-rans in the WRC. In the US rally scene, the WRX and Evo ARE tops because no one else is playing...

I wouldn't toss EITHER out of the driveway, though... :D

yeah i know there have been countless evos running the rally scene, but it has been the WRX that brought rally to the USofA. when have you seen an evo 7 advertising mitsu in a rally commercial. with the growing number of "rally inspired" cars being released, i'm sayin that we are gonna see MORE of these things and less other things. thats what i ment, like number wise. sry.

Just because we drive a pumped up Mazdaspeed does not mean that we are cheap as a whole. The EVO is a Lancer for crying out loud, so I would think about your comparison.

actually the evo started out as a mirage...which is the same thing as a lancer...but when you put a lancer and a evo side-by-side...there's NO comparison. i've sold 2...and driven them both...that car is amazing...i had one of the guys bring his in after he had broken-in the turbo...holy lord...that's one bad ass machine.

Yea for AGR#7, he is telling the truth!!! Hahaha, the EVO8 is an ugly bag-o-s***!!!

By they way, the guy who started this thread doesn't even own a MSP, so he is talking out of his ass to begin with. He is just another one of the "hey guys, I'm trying to be cool and talk about a car that I don't own, but in reality I'm just here to show off what I'm really going to buy." That was the point of his post. So to him I say good-by, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Dumb-Ass.

I'm just very tired of this s*** people.

And isn't the MSP just a protege????? Did I miss something??

As everyone knows, the evo chassis is different from the lancer. The only thing the lancer and the evo share are the front doors and the frame, which has been reinforced with hundreds of more weld points. If you've been in an evo before, you'll notice how incredibly stiff the chassis is.

At least the Protege was a good starting point - a clean design. And I will be damned if Pontiac didn't have something to do with that God-awful front end design of the EVO. That car looks more over the top stupid then about anything I have ever seen on the street (okay; maybe the Aztek - now there's an ugly pos!!!).

Funny. Yes, I meant to write Protege, but sadly, you are still to stupid to see that point that I was trying to make.

Hmm

The Evo while being a beast and all does look like the results of an illicit mating act between a Pontiac Aztek and an econobox.

But hey it will run. I do like my MSP better on looks and soon with the high to mid 13's in sight I will no longer have to read,
"Great car outstanding balance, superb chassis...Needs more power."
I wish I could hate on this car more but man it just isnt a NEON!"
It's more like a fugly AWD samurai.

Good luck bro come back and see us from time to time.
I feel a rash of 13 second MSP's may be around in a few months :)
I'm sure 15k of mods could do a lot for our MSP's. Heck 2k could speed it up quite a bit without sacrificing drivability /reliability.

L8TER...

AGR it's good to see your chairs are a swangin again.

Yeah!! It's good to be swaggin' the chairs, again!! (chair)

Oh, by the way; I drove MemphisRacer's MAZDASPEED, and he said it was about 9 psi that day. It felt good, indeed.

Drag racing is for wimps. Come on, bragging about a 13 second quater mile? Who the hell cares? People, this car was made for the twisties, s-bend, hairpins you name it. This car was not intended for and should never be used as a platform for drag racing. If you want to go that route, be a real man and buy an American car, but don't kid yourself thinking this car will be a good drag racer. You are wasting your time and your money.

By the way, the only drag race that counts is the one to the first turn:)!
