Leavin the MSP world and getting.......

I could afford the Evo, the STi, IS300 or the Speed. I figured the Speed pretty much blows the other 2 away in looks, has the wheels, stereo, spoiler, springs, sway bars and brakes to start with. I figure between downpipe, intake and 10 psi of boost I'll add 50 HP for about $500. The bottom line on the Evo, is that "It's a Lancer!" I had a hard time dropping $20,500 on the Protege, for what is about a $15,000 car. There is no way in hell I would drop $30,000+ on a $12,000 car in the Lancer/Evo. Besides I'll spank any Lancer or STi with my 350HP Miata. Besides, since I race my Miata, I get all the Mazda parts I want direct from Mazda at dealer cost. Try to get that from Subaru, or Mitsubishi.

Drag racing is for wimps. Come on, bragging about a 13 second quater mile? Who the hell cares? People, this car was made for the twisties, s-bend, hairpins you name it. This car was not intended for and should never be used as a platform for drag racing. If you want to go that route, be a real man and buy an American car, but don't kid yourself thinking this car will be a good drag racer. You are wasting your time and your money.

By the way, the only drag race that counts is the one to the first turn:)!

guess what..the evo outhandles the MSP...the STI will too....

There are too many stuck up MSP owners who think their car is the fastest car on the planet.

Yea you COULD mod up the MSP with the money you're saving over the EVO/STi...but it's still FWD, doesn't have the prestege of a EVO or Sti, still wouldn't have the same amount of raw potential as the EVO/STi...hmmm...see what I'm getting at?

If you had a choice...would you buy a Porsche GT2 Turbo AWD or buy a MSP and mod the s*** out of the car with the money you'd save...exactly...it's almost the same thing with the MSP vs STi/EVO the STi/EVO is def a better car than the MSP...just grow up and live with it...yes for the money the MSP is a good car...

I wouldn't take a 350Z over a STi/Evo personally...maybe the Mazdaspeed RX8 (depending on what's inside) but the AWD is something that is tempting.

I think, personally, it would be insane to invest another $10,000 + into our cars. I doubt anyone will actually do this.

The over $30,000 mark opens many options. I think the 350Z is totally badass. If I were spending the money, that's my choice.

It's all a matter of opinion.

Well there fucknut I wasnt bragging about anything.
I hardly consider a very streetable 13 sec car a "dragcar"
I would buy American but all those "realmen" are whiny *******
UAW metheads who build some of the shittyest cars on the planet. American fwd cars are junk yard fodder so you can keep your Amurincan cars and your "real men."
Those little yellow bastards build a far better product.
And to imply that by baby modding my car into a 13 sec MSP suddenly causes it to lose all its handling composure is just plain dumbfucktastic.
What is it like the sound barrier? Oh look he hit 13.99!
Oh yep there it goes see the wheels just went flat and it's plowing through the turns like a backhoe with low tires.
In short just plain ol **** YOU!

(no)

The Evo is a good car for its class. The MSP is a good car for its class. Different price ranges. No doubt the EVO is better performance wise..that thing kicks ass. The MSP kicks ass in its own right, but its no Evo or STI. Once again, apples and oranges.
Just my 2 cents.

LanEvo is pretty sweet

STi is sweet as well

but I've been converted into a rotary believer

so if they have pist-on in them, no thanks :)

(yes that includes my Protege, I do love my Protege though)

I think calling MSP owners "stuck up" may be stretching it a little, but yes a lot of them are a little cocky. Which is cool sometimes because they're proud of what they own. But what gets me is that people don't pay any respect to the EVO or WRX and what is really stunning me is how so many people think that the EVO and WRX are ugly. Granted I like the EVO 6 the best of all of them, but the EVO 8 is still dope. But hey, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I think that the MSP is a great car and other than Hard piping, a FMIC, JIC coilovers and a Boost controller I wouldn't bother doing anything else to it.

And isn't the regular Lancer an US market only vehicle?

If I bought the EVO ( in a perfect world, one of which where I'm rich) the spoiler would come off. If I bought the sti ( same world again) the spoiler would come off.

If I bought either, the wheels would come off, and stereo be replaced or put in (sti)

If I bought the STI, the oversized, and very over done hood scoop would come off.

If bought the EVO, the rear tails would probably come off,

Either way, I'd have a grin on my face everyime their turbo's kicked in and I whooped everyones asses on a straight, autox, or 1/4 mile...and that includes that srt4.

Respect? 270-300 horsepower will get you that right quick.

AS for looks. That is an individual thing. but, you can't deny they are both ... WOW in performance terms

I wouldn't buy a 350Z. Something about it's headlights, and tails, I just can't get passed. Still a nice car, but I could get better. The thing wouldn't last around here anyways, the EVO/STI I could drive all year round.

Well i finally made my decision. Working at the Mitz dealership and not even able to test drive it. i have gone with the 03 WR Blue WRX. I have also added the Prodrive wing with front lip which is BAD ASS!! Delivery of car is expected in 2-3 weeks(they have to find me the wing and lip) But hey i have waited along time for a car i can wait more.

:D

They want to keep the miles down on them (that's the same w/ the 350 Z, they won't let ANYONE testdrive unless they are 100% serious and have a deposit down)

. . .first respectable commercial from mitsu in awile....

Funny thing, every time I see a Mitsubishi commercial I can't help wondering if they are specifically marketing to assholes, or if they just assume that everyone is one. They totally lost me with the ones where the basically said that everybody is out to beat the next guy and life is pretty much a pissing contest (the one where they say that you have a little voice in your head saying, "I'm better than you are". They must want to sell cars to punks and retarded people or something.

Anyway, I couldn't watch the movie here at work, but I assume it is the one where they say the the EVO is a religion. Ok, whatever. I have to admit it is better than the others they have been running. Still can't help wondering what they're thinking though.

just think of what you could do:
evo8: $35000+
msp: $20000
price difference: $15000

spend $15000 on the engine get a bigger turbo, get the same amount of power in a Mazda!

OR

MX-5 Miata: $ 22,363
With LSD and Rear Drive
Then mod it up with the...

Price Difference: $12637

...that you save. You'll have a lighter, faster, better looking car with only the options you want. I got the MSP because I liked what it had stock and wanted a balance between performance and being able to live with it on a daily basis. If I could have afforded it though, I would have a Miata with an aftermarket turbo.

Get the EVO if you're going offroad (AWD) or you really miss Hiro Hito. Otherwise, Mazda's got something for everybody.
