Lean Idle After FMIC Install CODE P2187

Yesterday I installed a TurboXS front mount kit, and reset the ecu. Started the car and it idled kinda rough at first, then settled a bit. What I realized was that instead of having 14.6-7 afr mine is idling at 15.9-16.1!!! I went for a test drive and it didn't have any problems. I held boost at 17.4psi in 4th. When in 5th gear cruising at 2500rpm my afr is 14.8:1, and also when cruising in 6th gear at 2500rpm my afr is 14.8:1. After about 20 miles, I threw a CEL, code P2187. Also I noticed my backfires got louder.

Any ideas what it could be? Is it something simple as a boost leak? My mods are:
TurboXS FMIC, TurboXS Downpipe/racepipe, Turbosmart Ultimate BOV, CorkSport SRI/turbo inlet.

I don't think this matters, but might as well mention it. This front mount kit came with a power steering coolant line upgrade. So when I drained power steering fluid it was a dark red color, the one I put in was clear white power steering fluid by Valvoline. Did I use the wrong one? When I started the car, I bit of noise came from power steering pump, so I kept adding more fluid, although never going above recommended level. Due to at first a low level of it, when turning the steering wheel it almost caused the car to stall.

So my major question is why is my idle 15.9-16.1? Is that the reason for the P2187? How can I fix it. And a minor question, did I put wrong power steering fluid in? I think I heard you can even use tranny fluid, is that true?

Thanks in advance for any useful information.

P2187 has nothing to do with power steering fluid. lean codes usually have to do with variations in air flow or sensor failure. the intake manifold has been known to be a cause if the VICS gets stuck in position and cannot actuate. i would bet, and its more common, that the MAF sensor is reading air flow outside of its norm which is causing the code. alot of manufacturers attribute this to the presence or lack thereof of air straighteners inside an aftermarket air intake.

My main focus is not on power steering fluid, it was the cause of harsh idle at first when turning the steering wheel. My main concern is my 15.9 afr at idle? That can't be good, how bad is it to have 15.9 afr at idle? You say it could be VICS stuck in position, what is that and how do I get it unstuck?

Well I assume you took off the SRi for the installation. Make sure you don't have boost leak and also make sure your MAF is properly seated/plugged in. You do have an issue with your metered air.

So I found the reason why my AFRs were messed up, my dumbass forgot to put the recirc hose back on the BOV, so it was sucking in unmetered air that resulted in 15.6:1 AFRs at idle. I was too excited about my TurboXS front mount that I forgot to check a minute thing like the recirc hose. Thanks for your suggestions guys. I gotta be more careful next time.
