Launch Tips Please!!!

i hear ya man.. I went to the track a few weeks back for my very first time and i had some bad launches. My best was 2.456 60' still a bad launch. I was nervous, and i didnt feather the clutch much so i just got a ton of wheel hop. Next time i will do much better.

on that 2.456 60' run i ran a 14.8@97.3mph I want low 14's from the same setup, I have an LSD so i know i can lower my 60' times with practice.

kind of late but my best time is a 16.19 at somthin around 80. i dont have the time slip infront of me right now. and i drive a standard, and the atx is for austin tx. just to clear things up.

Drag racers.. feh. Autocross launch is from about 5 grand on 38psi 215/45/16 Falken Azenis Sports... on wet blacktop. Lots of tire spin foir the first 10 to 20 feet. Because tire spin is a good thing to keep the engine pumping at boost.

I'm assuming that would not be a good drag launch though because your time starts the second that light turns green. For us it starts as soon as we trip the start lights 15 feet down the track. So the wheel spin is neccessary to have the car at maximum thrust at the lights, regardless of the speed it take to make it to those lights.

Plus the slightly lower gearing of my falkens makes for some freak'n fast 1st gear stints... very nice.
You need to run some Prosolos. You get the fun part of drag racing and still keep all the fun of autocross. I would skip any other solo event to run a Pro.

Apologies to the orginator of the thread, I suck so I can't help you with launch technique. I went to the dragstrip my second time with the protege last night and my best 60fts were about 2.3 lauching from about 2500. Damn wheelhop.

I put my tire pressure to 24 psi and launch at 1200 to 1500 rpms ran a 14.5 2.4 60 ft times at 97.8 mph i need to get my 60 ft times down and i will get 14.2 - 14.3 on stock tires lower tire pressure and dont go through the water box try it and i bet you will be glad you did (nana)
