Anyone else experiencing this phenomenon. I had the same problem when i first purchased the p5. The car feels knotchy going from 1st to 2nd.

2nd to 3rd is ok. 4th-6th is butter.

Honestly, it does feel notchy at first, however if I drive the car long enough, start to not overthink it, and balance out the clutch/throttle can alleviate most of the notchiness.

Id say the car is very notchy in Reverse and 1st though.

These numbers on the poll does not suprise me..as i had mentioned i had same issue w/ p5.

R & 1 is fine for me. Today i tried launching the car and catching a good 1-2nd shift. I shift into 2nd at 5k and it was butter. But later i shifted into 2nd at 3k from a light and felt the grind. Thinking about changing the tranny oil but only 16k on the clock.

I wonder if anyone will come out with a bushing kit for the tranny?

I noticed when I start it up and the engine is cold its really hard to get into reverse and 1st, I almost have to put full force into it sometimes. Shifting into 2nd grinds sometimes too when its cold. When it gets warm this goes away. I think pumping the clutch a couple times helps it.

Well i took car to the dealer. They stated that my all weather mats were the culprits. He stated it did not let me depress the clutch fully. I tell ya..those guys will come up with the craziest things to get out of working.

That is funnY!

I have the problem going into 2nd and 3rd with only 4k. The problem did not start until the 3K mark. It will be off to the dealership soon for that along with the CLUNK when downshifting.

You have the clunk also? I have had mine in three times now and it still clunks. Last time they replaced the diff mounts and bushings. It helped but still clunks. Keep posted.

Thanks

No clunk here..but i belive that all mazdaspeed's (protege, speed3 & 6) will develop the dreaded clunk sooner or later.

worn out bushings seems to be mazdaspeed's weak link.
