I have one quick question, i did try searching, but i couldnt find what i was looking for.

my keyless entry remote went missing, and i want to know where the control box for that is located, so i can disable it. (so no one walks around the parking lot at school playing "find the unlocking car")

pictures would be much appreciated.

also, whats the best way to go around replacing that?

i'd like to get a control that has an AUX button so i can install something on the trunk to have a self opening trunk

thank you!

One of my keyless units just died. Tried a new battery. Nothing. It was weird, worked on one click, two seconds later...dead...

Go to the dealer and have them reprogram it.
Other than that, you can buy a new remote for cheap on ebay but it'd be easiest to have the dealer fix it.

The reciever is behind the side boot or trunk trim, on the driver side. Thats your driver side, not mine. :D

It is located in front left floor board up near the dead pedal and left of the clutch. Black box that says mazda on it. You can also trace the led wire in the guage cluster down to it as well.

Probably no more than $60 to $80 maximum.
That would be to reprogram it maybe.
You mentioned replacing the part, which would certainly be more expensive than that, unless you find one at a junkyard and if replacing it won't cause any other issues.

i think you can do this yourself...there's a post somewhere about the sequence......?

i saw a replacement keyless entry online somewhere, said it came with 2 recievers
intructions on how to install it
and program the recievers

and said they had an aux button.

it was like...50 bucks + shipping

I bought a keyless remote off of keylessride.com an d it came with self programing for 45$...works like a charm...my ride never came with a remote...s*** i didnt even know the car came with keyless entry when i got it

here's a how to:
Warning: proceed at your own risk!!! This might or might not work for you as you may have a different type of vehicle or keyless remote entry. In no case do I take any responsibility as to the outcome of using these instructions on your vehicle! If you decide to try this on your car you are on your own! Another important comment is that this procedure does not apply to keys that have built-in transponders. This only applies to remote keyless entry!

Note: Before you start this procedure make sure you have all the remotes for the vehicle with you and program them all!

 1.
Open driver's door and leave open.
Insert the key into the switch and turn to ON and OFF position three times. Note: turn to the ON and not the ACC position!
Take key out of the ignition.
Press the driver's door ajar push-button three times. This button is located on the center pillar between the driver's door and the rear door. It is on the bottom part of the pillar and is pointing out.
Press any button on the first remote. After several seconds, the dashboard buzzer will beep.
Repeat step #5 for all the other remotes.

When you are done, shut the door. The car will beep several times.
 2. You are done. Test all remotes to make sure they work!
Based on my research, most Mazda's are the same. If this doesn't work for you, keep looking on the Internet, as your vehicle might need a
different variation of this procedure.

*or* pull the fuse for the _____ (cig ltr (i think) ) . My fuse blew and the only thing not working was the remote and the (cig ltr?) IIRC. Anyhoo - check the fuse box and pull one at a time until your other remote stops working. A good solution in case the lost one does turn up...
