Keeping the Si???

Pending a (perhaps heated) conversation with my GF tonight, I think I'm keeping the Si for Auto-X. Ol' Blue is anxious to mow down some cones! (eekdance)

In related news, the MS6 is probably going to stay in WI for another week, since a plane ticket for this weekend is about $150 more than next weekend.

keep it, and race it, we won't hate on you for the skrivic. It'll do well and you and she will see that it was worth it in the end, unless youcan find a killer deal on something where you make money and still get to race.

I was looking at classes, and I think that it should stomp all over anything else in its class.

if its paid of and the MS6 is your DD I'd say keep it and go racing :)

That would be the situation exactly.

What year Si and what class are you planning on running it in?

It's a '99. I'm probably going to run it in the stock class for now. I think it falls into Stock G. I'm a complete n00b at Auto-X, too, so I'm going to make sure I know how to drive properly before I jump in too far over my head.

Stay on street tires for a season ;). Can't wait to see the purple...er...blue Civic out there. I believe that you're up against the V6 pony cars and, more importantly, the Mini Cooper S.

We told you that you should have dyno'd it this weekend! ;)

I most likely will be on street tires, and not only street tires, but all-seasons. I don't think I'm going to be able to put much money into it until the whole "keeping it" storm blows over.

No, no Minis in G stock, they're in D stock where the MS6 would play. Funny, though, because I'd think that the two cars would actually be pretty competitive. I'm less than concerned about V6 pony cars. The cars I'd be worried about in there are:
318ti
Focus SVT
CRX Si
Galant VR-4 (I'd be impressed if anyone even showed up with one)
Sentra SE-R

Yeah, now I wish that I would have put it on there.

Hate burst your bubble but the Mini Cooper S is a GS car and the regular Mini is HS.

Don't believe me? Look at the entry list for the National Tour event in Cecil, GA this weekend.

Damn! The list that I was looking at was out of date then, or just plain incorrect. That makes a lot more sense, but it could be a bit of a problem for me. Oh well, I'll probably be more concerned with keeping the cones upright for a while.

Here's the listing of the different cars broken down by model. http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Lists/2006/stockc.html
And yes, the Mini Cooper S is in GS along w/ the Sentra SE-R Spec V. And if you are running on all-seasons, you don't need to worry about stealing trophies from anybody. ;)

WTF?!? The list I was looking at must have been old. Looked just like that, except for the content.

Look again: My Si (1999) is in HS on that list, running with the Mini Cooper non-S. There's even less scary stuff for me now!

I don't want to give the impression that I'm clearing space in my trophy case. Like I said, I'm probably going to be having enough trouble keeping it between the cones. Tinman = n00b. I'm just commenting on the competitiveness of my car, in that class, in general, not predicting domination.

BTW... the Toyota Tacoma X-runner is in HS.... 256hp... that can fit 275s on the stock rims....

(yawn) It's still a truck. I don't care if it's got 755s on it. Would you like to know what I think of solid axles? (bird)

yeah but thats another one of those cars where you will be hard pressed to see out at auto-x on a regular basis. In HS though being a noob you will most likly be hard pressed to be competetive with the likes of ken St. Pierre and Tom shuman (sp?) running that class along with all the other excelent drivers

(bang) People, read!! I'm not planning on doing very well, personally, with me driving the car. I just think that the car is a very competitive one within its class.
"Ol' Blue is anxious to mow down some cones!"
"...I'm going to make sure I know how to drive properly before I jump in too far over my head."

For all I know about AutoX, when I show up they're going to hand me a blindfold and tell me to keep it in reverse.

LOL, any autox schools in the area you can sign up for? :) They are very beneficial; I've done 3 so far. As for HS, the '99 Si could do very well. There is also talk of the Mazda3, the Acura RSX, and of course the Mini Cooper. I know some local people who run in HS and it seems like a fun group of people and cars. The P5 fits in there stock, but I was already modded before I started autoxing and don't want to revert back.

There is in fact a novice school this year (April maybe? I don't remember) that I also plan on attending.
