K&N Filter

is it worth it to buy a K&N OEM style filter for the P5? It's over $50 Cdn. and I want to know if I'll feel any better response at low rpm's. I know there will be no gain in hp, but will it increase air flow?

dont waste your money. save up for a CAI or a short ram.
i tried it on my p5 and it was worthless.

my $.02

Buy one! It was the first mod I did. You won't feel any major difference, but you should get a little better gas mileage and slightly better throttle response.

something happens, because when i put mine in, my idle was wierd for a day even after i reset the ecu, then it straigtened out. as for better throttle response, it doesn't feel any different than before.

Yeah, but you will get a cheap paper filter with most CAI or SRI systems. The K&N is the best you can buy.

However, if you are looking at a new intake, be sure to spend the extra $ and upgrade the air filter to a K&N. Your engine will thank you for it.

Do what I did: buy a cheapie Ebay intake and put a K&N on the end of it. You'll end up saving about thirty bucks from an AEM system.

or save and get the AEM or Injen.

I recommend the K&N typhoon kit as well, especially since it has become more affordable.

Check out CTAmotorsports.com for some Canadian prices. Chris is a really good guy.

The panel filter is good, it gives better throttle response and reduces some of the jerkiness of the car. However the typhoon really smoothes out the 1st gear and gives you punch past 4000 RPM. If you have any questions, PM me.

I bought one for my Ford Explorer and felt absolutely nothing....gas mileage didn't change either. I have a buddy with the same explorer and did the same thing and he swears up and down that there has been a difference in mileage. The explaination: (scratch)

Yeah, no real difference that I notice; I bought it for the better filtering ability and the need to check it at 30k miles and clean it at 50k.

you have to remember the most the differance in power and mileage is that most people replace the filters when ther old ones where dirty, this will be an big improvement!! i replace my stock flat at only 3,000 miles ther was still a differance, a little in responce and smoother rpm band( mainly upper) the seemed to be a little faster, but mainly makes the car more drivable in high performance motoring..very bit helps in the steps to performance driving
