k&n drop in filter

:
2017 CX-5 GT w/ Premium Pkg.
Anyone plan on getting one? On my previous I remember swapping out the stock filter with the k&n one the car had better throttle response and slightly louder engine sound. I was checking k&n's site, looks like it's the same filter used on previous gen too. Gonna order one, we'll see if it's good on this car :D

Got the filter in today. As expected, felt no power gain and heard no sound difference, maybe a slightly louder growl. But just like on my pontiac, throttle response felt quicker and smoother. Felt like my car had a stuffy nose and now it's unclogged.

Already CAI

If you look at this photo, you'll see that outside air is pulled directly into the intake, meaning no CAI is necessary. OEM is, essentially, a CAI design.

Agree. The ScanGaugeII-X on my CX-9 constantly shows IAT (intake air temp) to be nearly the same as the outside temp (sensor inside bumper).
The intake of CX-9 is similar to that of the Mazda3 shown here.
What remains is the air flow allowed by the filter.

More flow, more fine particles going through. It is a trade-off.
I have K&N filter on my CX9 for 6 years. Love it. Don't have any issue with it.
Cleaned it three times so far.
