Not really because there are suprisingly alot of car that are small and safe. Like the Mini and europe's Smart car. Infact BMW down right braged about it saying "good things come in small packages."
As for insurence it all depends on his insurence company. Would you believe me if I said I pay $110 a month for my MSP? I guess they didnt know the thing was turboed. But it is weird a 2 door sports roadster that produces more hp and is turboed is actually cheaper to insure then the speed. But thats what I love about Mazdas...insurence never see them as "fast" cars for street racers but safe daily driven cars.
Like the SRT-4 on the other hand....you'll be paying insurence up the ass. Infact I think thats the #1 reason why some people are getting rid of the car. Its like #5 on the most expensive cars under $40K to insure.
