yea ive been doing that, i keep thinking i forgot something but i checked like 20 times and im pretty sure i got everything so far lol
its takin so long cuz im doin it by myself so torquing bolts down is pretty hard, especially like 70ft lbs, so my mom helps me by holding the engine lol

my brothers comin home sunday so im trying to get this s*** ready to go in by then, hopefully it will be

I got a question, anybody know how to prime the oil pump? ive just been turning the crank/oil pump for a while now with a rachet to try and prime it but it doesnt seem to be working

also how do you do timing on these cars? i guess i could use the online manual for that one

Here's what I did to prime the oil pump on my Z when I finished my complete build and turbo upgrade.

I pulled the fuel pump relay and the plugs, this way there would be no cranking resistance and no fuel or spark. I had squirted some assembly lube on the piston skirts. I had a defi Oil Pressure sensor so I monitored that while I cranked the engine in 8-10 second intervals with 45 seconds in between to keep from loading my starter too much.

Another option I have seen is a little messier but I have done it as well. You take an EMPTY shop vac and remove the vacuum filter element. Then place the hose nozzle at the oil filter flange and crank the engine with the plugs in or out, your call, and the fuel pump fuse/relay pulled. The vacuum force helps to pull the oil through the pickup and pump. If you want to get really fancy, you can drill and tap and old filter for a hose nozzle, get some clear tube and some reducers/plugs and hook all of that up to your shop vac.

Good luck with your build, i'll cross my fingers for you.

Just make sure the oil pump internals are covered in oil before you put it togeather.I put a rebuilt motor in my buddies nissan p/u,the guy shipped on its side and all the oil leaked out of the pump and i had no oil pressure. i had to remove the pump and fill it with oil to get it to start pumping.

yea i got oil at my turbo feed line just now after cranking it a few more times by hand so i should be good to go there
i just finished the timing belt, found how to do it somewhere on here by accident lol got the flywheel on and torqued and now im trying to find the torque specs for the clutch so i can get that on
pics once im done getting the trans on

reading all about this makes me wish i lived in NC or something so i could view all this first hand, that and just to hear it start up, aka dont forget vids of when you get her up and runnin!

lol yea ill be sure to take vids, i could have had the engine into the car today but i forgot about some stuff (i.e turbo oil lines and turbo coolant lines)
i got the turbo mani, turbo, coolant lines, s pipe, all the engine mount brackets on the block, and intake mani on the engine today
i started cleaning the trans and thought i would give somthing a try, u might be able to see it in the pic but it looks a ton better in person

yea, i got the engine in the car today, all 4 mounts hooked up, and i did it BY MYSELF! dam it made me feel good when everything lined up lol

ill be doing some wire tuck/shaving tomm along with getting the axles and all the wires and stuff back in, i sure do hope it runs, i checked everything at least three times so if it doesnt, well im not sure where to start...but lets not think about that lol
pics will be comin up tomm. hopefully i get it running tomm but im not really aiming for it

so i just checked the weather, its supposed to snow tomm, which sucks ass

but im going to be workin on the car anyway, i got everything done, except the exhaust, IC, alternator, and starter

i feel like killing myself, cuz i could have had the alt. and the starter in the motor before i put it in, but now its super hard to get too

oh well, im finishing it tomm and i guess not driving it since the snow :(

yeah we are supposed to get snow here tomorrow evening and all day friday, had some ice in our apartment parking lot this morning, almost ended up with a new front bumper and giving my neighbor a new rear bumper. and damn, you can still start it up in the snow right?

IT RUNSSSS!!!!
i forgot to put a video camera in front when i started it but i took a video with my phone right after i started it, it was warming up and i let it run for like a good 3 minutes before i saw i had a coolant leak lol

i know where its comin from but i was hoping it wouldnt leak..kinda my fault
but i have to take the manifold off to get to the leak and then once thats tight i should be set to break it in
idle was a bit bumpy at first and blue smoke was comin out of the exhaust but i spilled some oil in the sparkplug hole so maybe thats why lol

man im so ****** excited

lol hang on a sec man! i need to get it on photobucket first
