all the ones i've seen have been black plastic though. not painted to match the body

either the previous owner sprayed it white, or the previous owner wrecked it and a body shop sprayed it white

Ill have to look at mine again but im sure thats part of the front bumper so thats why it is body color. As for why it sticks down most likely like said to deflect air to the radiator.

i have a feeling it is a front air dam. my brothers friend made one for his 67 amc rambler sst wagon. i will try to get the pics.

they all stick down like that.. but on an ORIGINAL bumper, it's supposed to be black/unpainted at that spot

Yup I got the Same on My 2002 LX, Silver Like the Body came like that when new.

1st poster, yours looks a little bent up on the pass side and bent down on the driver side.
