Just picked up a 02...few questions.

Hey guys, just picked up an 02 P5 after searching for a couple months. Few quick questions to start...I searched and did not find much, or I was looking in the wrong spot....

HVAC controls. There are no lights. The lights for the A/C, Defrost, and fresh/recycled air light up, but nothing else. Are these regular bulbs I probably should be replacing? More than that? While on that subject...

The fresh/recycled air button does not work. It seems to be stuck on fresh air. Will not change. With the lights not working, and this, am I looking at getting a whole new unit?

Should the fog light switch light up just like the dimming switch?

I have a new deck on the way (PO misplaced the face plate off the current deck) so I figured while it was all torn apart for that install I would take care of the little things but wanted to buy bulbs ahead of time if possible.

The bulbs for heater/climate controls are T5 or whatever they're called over there.

Does Fresh/recycle switch work of you change the vent setting?

Damn I feel dumb. I just assumed it would switch over no matter what mode. Took it off defrost, worked and switched over perfectly. I'm used to levers instead of buttons in all my Nissans I have owned. Thanks.

My Fresh/Recycle switch was "broken" when I got my 02 p5. It's a cable actuated system. The cable loop sits on a white plastic bar that rotates a circular vent selector. This assembly is behind the HVAC knobs near where the driver's right knee is. My cable loop fell off and I just needed to put it back on. It can be awkward to get to, but if you slide the seat all the way back and crawl in there, you should find it. In the meantime, you can probably reach it from the driving position and actuate it manually. Does that make sense?

The fog light switch does illuminate, there is a small bulb in the side of fog light switch.

Check to see if all your wires are intact. The PO may have broken or disconnected one during the deck install.
See if you have voltage going to the light sockets.
It's kinda weird how a whole bunch of bulbs would blow at once.

I installed my new double DIN deck yesterday, and took care the the bulbs in the process. It was the two tiny little lights (74's seemed bigger, but fit and worked) that provided the backlighting that were both burned out. Replaced, and everything lights up again. The deck install is a whole different story, the Metra kit seems kinda shady with how the back mounts. I still need to pull out the fog light switch to check that bulb as well.
