Just bought NFS-underground

thats why I don't ever play games on PC anymore.....the cost to build a pc that can perform on the same level as a console is rediculous. Also, you never have to worry about compatibility or system requirements.

just got it and I have a PC, and playing with a Wingman rumble pad with dual sticks on and it's sweet names redline6th if you wanna race! BTW Xbox/PS2 users can play PC players.the drift mode is awesome!!!!

Well, I got it yesterday and the PS2 was turned on at about 11 AM yesterday and didn't get turned off until about 9 AM this morning. No, I wasn't playing it all that time, I do have a small portion of a life, but I kept it on and just kept going back to it. For realism no way, but for play value I think it was worth the money. I really like the fact that the mods you do to one car carry over to the next. No, not like real life, but damnit we all need a little escapism. lol. Hella soundtrack too. Oh and drift is a blast, I just wish drifting a front wheel drive was really that easy. I guess if the track was covered with 10W-30 it might be.

If one of the programers of the game has a mazdaspeed, I think there was a chance that it might of made it into the game. ALOT of the cars in this game are not "race cars" like the civic, 4 door neon, and the lancer (not evo lancer, just a lancer es). Im pretty sure the protege has sold more than a lancer, and hell it out performs it.

Also there was a rumor that the mazdaspeed was going to be included in the game. See this thread...

I think it extremely funny when people who don't know what their talking about think they do, funny indeed. I was one of 2 technical artists on Need for Speed:Underground. I have a Mazdaspeed, I love my Mazdaspeed. I do not decide the car list. Artists DO NOT decide the car list. Programmers DO NOT decide the car list. We are what you would call Development. Production decides the car list, well a few of them. The car list is chosen based on the best interests of the company, and they are damn good choices. I was skeptical at first about the Miata, but, the Miata is a huge tuner car in Europe. The RX7 is the most popular tuner car Mazda has right now around the world, these were the fairest choices from that manufacturer. Perhaps we will see a Protege if there is ever a sequel. Sequels ARE "supposed" to be improvements over the original aren't they? ;) Thanks for the comments, positive or negative. I do take note of the valuable comments, but 9 out of 10 of the negative ones are usually pretty immature and easy to ignore. The team usually sees the comments on Metacritic though, I recommend if you have factual comments you should post them there.

here's a little critique......make the cars realisitic....since when could a ford focus launch off the line like a stage 2 turbocharged miata with weight reduction?? oh and.....a neon?? jeez H.

i played the game, my friend bought it and it was so freaking easy he returned it....it seriously has horrible driving physics.....easiest racing game ever

yeah, there's not a whole lot of depth to it.....My biggest complaint is how they brag on the name brand performance upgrades, but when you actually go to swap parts it just says something like:
BRAKE UPGRADE LEVEL 2:
Jackson Racing
AEM
Hawk

it shows no actual increase in performance...theres a little bar that slowly (very slowly) increases. I'd like to see a meter on the brakes upgrade that shows decreases in stopping distances....that would be awesome. Another thing is showing ACTUAL horsepower gains.....an intake, header, ignition system, wires, plugs, and ECU chip.......thats right...14whp!! That would be the most realistic attempt at racing. You have to play the game for 6 months while you save up a whopping $22 a week (no matter how much you race) for a stage 1 turbo kit! Then only then can you REALLY start to earn respect. And the respect you earn is from other 17yr old pimple-faced kids who think short-throw shifters, stickers, and neon lights are performance parts.

Now I would buy that game.....but then I realize....I'm living that game.

I don't know guys, I've played it now for 2 hours ( PC Version)....and I'm trying to like it. But I can't seem to get into it. Looks like a console game, plays like one too. That's not a good thing.EA ruined yet another idea, and another NFS game if you ask me. The tracks are horribly done, and WAY too short ( no big surprise there since this is EA's new way to make games longer...make short track, and make you circle it all day) The car physics ( if you want to call them that ) are too console'ish and remind me of my old remote control race car track things I used to have when i was younger. Great for the mindless who just wanna mash the gas and turn left and right, but not great for DRIVING.

It's a great idea, has some nice speed to it, and defintely has that fast and furious type feel to it. Should appeal to the average gamer who's not really into racing but for someone like myself....I'm gonna back to playing TOCA 2 and Mercedes Benz World Rally...which btw plays great, has great car phyisics, and has tracks that last 15 mins WITHOUT lapping.

NFS, NFS SE, and Porcshe unleashed ( ALL PC)were the only NFS games worth buying IMHO. Sorry.

maybe the problem is you're trying to play console games on a PC....I think the tracks are great. Yes I thought there would be more than 1, but the amount of variations in the course seem endless. I'm all the time figuring out new shortcuts and alternate routes. I'm very impressed with the course layouts. Length also is not a factor for me as after 3 minutes of racing on a course I foind my heart to be sped up and I'm sitting on the edge of my chair./....THAT is what a racing game is about!

umm get further in the game and play on harder difficulties and its by no means easy

I'm currently at 57/111 with a pimp black impreza that isnt riced out :D

project gotham 2 came out on the same day and it rapes ****** nfs:u's ass with a brick

PG2 is ok.....I liked it better when it was called Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast! Truth be told....PGR is MSR...the developer ported over their sequel they were working on to the xbox when the dc folded. I like the series but the best street racing game is Tokyo Extreme Racer....I hear TXR3 is getting ready to come out....should be really good!! I love that series!

you act like you uncovered some conspiracy when you figured out msr was the same as pgr.....everyone knew that. and the first one on the 'box was kinda crappy, msr kicked ass, but the best is by far pgr2

I heard the same about tokyo extreme racer. Tokyo extreme racer zero is a kick ass game.

so far nfsu has been coo, if they come out with new tokyo extreme racer, ill be first inline to get it. i also cant wait for gt4

I for one am sick of seeing tracks that only last for 3 mins. Come on, I have sex for longer then that :)

And I'm sorry, butI'll take my pc over an console any day.

btw, I'm playing with a thrustmaster force Feedback steering wheel. I am a long time gamer, and racing games have always been a favorite because I like to drive so much. But, NFSU does not feel like a real driving game. Just another console game with half assed car physics.

PGR2 has the nurburgring....depending on what car you drive, it takes 5-15 minutes to complete :D
