Just bought an MS6 GT

I just bought a black on black MS6 GT with Navi and moonroof. I got it for $31K, which is about $400 over dealer invoice. I will take delivery in the next couple of days. I am pretty impressed with car. It will be my daily driver replacing my Saab 9-3 Arc 2.0T which was a lease that needs to be turned in soon.

It's not as fast as my 448 rwhp supercharged/intercooled 2001 Mustang GT, but I live in Ohio and need something that I can drive in the snow. (drive2) Let the mods begin. Where do I start? (2thumbs)

The MS6 is good balance between performance and luxury in my opinion. I was considering the Subaru WRX STi, but the MS6 had more features and cost less.

Below dealer invoice? Considering fully loaded MS6 MSRP is 34,000

I'd say getting it for 31,000 is actually 3000 savings.... And most dealerships mark it up another 1500-2000 on top of that...

Dealer invoice is 30,588 on this car including the navi and the moonroof as options. I got it for 31,000. So, I got it about $400 above dealer invoice.

That's about what they're going for now. I did slightly better on my GT a week ago, about $150 over invoice, $2570 under MSRP.

Just this morning I got an email ad from another nearby dealer boasting a price of $24,995 for a new 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. Must be bare bones Sport model for that price.

Welcome, and congrats! CAIs have just been introduced (CP-E and AEM), there is a cat-back available (magnaflow) and a turbo-back exhaust (CP-E) that is about to come out. Looks like there may be a front mount intercooler coming out later this summer (CP-E), and there are a couple of BOV set-ups (Street concepts and CP-E). Look to install a boost gauge to monitor your turbo's health. Be aware that some of us have had intermittent power loss, but there is a reflash available thorugh most dealers now.

There are various aesthetic mods available from body kits (Fiber Images) lip kits (AutoExe) cf hoods (Fiber Images) and grill (AutoExe). There is a link to different tuner/performance shops on the welcome page that will help you see whats available.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Are there noticeable gains with these CAI kits? Exhaust is also something I'll look into. But, I think the first mod is going to be window tint.

David, which dealer was that?

Thanks

Welcome! I've made it my personal goal to own every mazdaspeed car that has come out (lame I know) so far 2 down. Nice to see another black mica, I don't see many people on these boards with that color.

Go Black Mica baby!

Congrats. I've knocked down 2 as well. Might be 3 this summer if the MS3 is hot.

I think your dealers in the NW are colluding to keep the price up. I haven't heard of any dealers getting anything over MSRP. I think by far dealers in most are discounting pretty heavily since they have a lot of unsold cars sitting on their lots. There are like 70 shown on Mazda's website just within 50 miles of me.

Rainman, who's gonna drive the MS6 if you get the 3, your wife? I'm still trying to convince mine to dump the minivan when the 3 comes out so she can drive the 6, but the mtx with the quick-engaging clutch is a hard sell.(yupnope)

I just found out, I will be picking it up tomorrow. I am excited. Only downside is that it is raining and I like to take home a clean car without getting dirty on the drive home.

Here are some pics.

If you want to drive it in the snow, you've got to get some new tires. The ones it comes with are "3 season" radials. GREAT on the road, but apparently worthless in snow.

Yeah, my wife doesn't like the MS6 clutch either. It won't be 3 at the same time because I'll probably sell the MSP (one of the parts guys at my Mazda dealer wants to buy it) and then my wife will drive the MS3. Even if I am not driving it daily, it will be nice to have it around to drive on occasion.
